As there are a lot of people coming onto the forum who are yet to buy in cyprus. i thought it might be nice for everyone to write about there house or apartment, its location and what made them buy there. we purchased a village house needing renovation work in pinarbasi. we decided on this house after looking for 4 years. the turkish title was also an important factor. the location was important to us, as we are midway between girne and lefkosa, and ercan is only about 25mins away. we have an excellent climate here in the mountain and little humidity along with great views. it is very quiet, no traffic noise and we have lots of wildlife around. i shouldn't think the village life style is for everyone but on the whole we wouldn't change a thing.

Sounds nice fire starter . We chose an apartment with a sea view not possible to build infront as we overlook a fishing marina . Location was the main factor quiet yet still 35 min frrom Ercan airport . tatlisu remains unspoilt , with very little building going on in the area . We decided on an apartment as our lifestyle did not warrant any maintenenece . The outgoings on the apartment are of a minimum another factor on buying an apartment . We are happy to live alongside the locals who welcome us everytime we visit , we feel privilidged to own an apartment at Tatlisu with our own private gate down to the quaint marina . Just stunning .

We rented in Lapta, Girne and Catalkoy before deciding on buying in the latter. We wanted a re-sale home that was Cypriot style and that is what we have (ish!) We also wanted a garden containing trees and plants native to Cyprus. One of the main factors, if not THE main one was to have Cypriots as our neighbours. We acheived our objectives and it is very peaceful and we live very close to the sea as a bonus. On the day we moved in one of our neighbours said ''you are now part of the family''. Says it all really!

we rented for 6 months in catalkoy, 1 thing i think is useful by renting for a while you have time to check out the area best suited to you. we were quite high up in catalkoy and found we had no sun from 3pm ish whilst down below was getting full sun, we chose Karsiyaka to buy and although we have a mountain view aswell as lovely sea view' we have the sun until it sets and what a stunning site that is.I have also been told on many occasions that Karsiyaka has the best quality air. where we live has a great open feeling and as we are elevated our view can not be spoilt.

We did not rent first but have had many great holidays with friends in Lapta. But after having a good look around we decided on an apartment in Alsancak. We finally moved in in September and it is brilliant, still a few things to iron out but our neighbour is Turkish and has been a great help. Our friends have a house in Lapta and it is lovely in a quiet area and they are not overlooked which is fine for them as they live there permanantly. My advise is have a good look around and ask lots of questions . Finally remember patience is a virtue and you will certainly need it ,but its worth it in the end. Liz

We looked at lots of properties and then we visited Cyprus Hills Mountain Village ! we just could not believe how one house/villa could tick all our boxes and more ! we had already decidied to buy after being shown around the main living area and pool but then they showed us the basement which was so ideal for my recording studio ! the position just below the castle with views over Kyrenia are breathtaking ! we are so looking forward to our move in april to start our new life ! having lived in older properties in the UK most of our lives we are looking forward to the modern spacious feel of a med villa ! not everyones choice we realise but its just what we were looking for good luck and best wishes to you all and see ya soon !!!!

Hi we bought just outside Bahceli village near to the sea and getting nearer every day because villa is built on the side of a hill, partner loved the water feature, wasnt till we had paid that i realised it was the pool leaking, what really swung it though was how easy it was for us to visit next door, especially after the bottom half of the boundary wall vanished out of site ! All the above is my sick sense of humour... Real reason ,waking up going out on to the balcony ,gobsmacked by the view, even 2yrs on, treading on birdshit, still gobsmacked !!!

Echo what steviec is saying. The complex is Sweetwater Bay Tatlisu, it's a little behind schedule but it is now nearly finished and looking fantastic, there are only a few properties left, right on the sea front with great mountain views behind. Almost perfect. With Seaterra Marina next door and some villas close by, a few more restaurants wouldn't go amiss but that will come in time. My advice - check it out quick.
