An offer of electricity from TRNC has been made. Whether or not it is accepted, it should put the North in good stead as having an humanitarian soul!

Richard... it is estimated that the RoC electricity authority is owed 80+ million in electricity used and not paid for in the 'occupied areas' ....

So the 'TRNC' could supply the RoC an equiv. amount and call it 'quits' ? ! ;)

Quid pro quo. Sounds reasonable to me!

There is mounting pressure in the south for the leader’s resignation. If he goes, what happens to the peace talks?

mmmmmm: You mention that ROC electricty is owed 80+ million.. How did this debt build up? Were the ROC supplying citizens in the North and not billing them, or not cutting them off for lack of payment? Even KibTek will cut you off for non payment...

I think the situation was a little more complicated than that, and that is why it came about. I.e. there was only one grid following 1974, and it took a while to separate them. Turks also claimed rights to the Power Station in the that was left in the South, and they did not give up their claim to the output of the Power Station... Afterall, they had equal rights to its output pre74? Who said the ROC owned it and could bill the Turkish Cypriots at retail price?

Be serious. The TRNC can;t keep all of us who live here connected to the supply full time.

How can they offer electric to the south?

Just turn off a few TC villages i am guessing.?

As I understand it from the news: there was an explosion in an arms depot in a navel base which killed approx 12 people.

Is this not the tragedy you are talking about - there was not mention of villages just that it was a Naval Depot.
