Hello, can anybody recommend a nice but inexpenisive hotel in the South that would be suitable for my 6 year old daughter and myself for a couple of days. I'm quite inexperienced in the south apart from Jumbo. Closer the better but not Ayia Napa. thank, Sarah

Hi Mermaid.. it depends what you want... Would you consider Protaras ? .. Your mobile should still work there and your daughter would LOVE the magic jumping waters .. I speak from experience having taken my youngest when she was five and my nieces when they were 3, 7 and 8 Don't go by the web site... http://www.magicdancing.szm.com/facilities.htm They loved it... Protaris is quite commercial, but the beaches are good Here's a site linked to trip advisor ( you get comments from folk who've stayed ) http://www.bookcyprus.com Just search your dates and ONLY the resort you want and I got prices from 35 GBP a night... These prices aren't busy .. you'll do a good deal ;)

Hi Mermaid I would seriously think about going South this summer, it may be unbearable in some buildings without aircon. The GCs are going to have months of very restricted electricity as the power station that was damaged supplied 40% of their power.

The tourist areas on the coast will almost certainly not be affected as they will receive the electricity as a priority over non-tourist areas such as Nicosia.

Why not go to southern Turkey instead? Ozancoys point is very valid even though many hotels have generators (even the FCO are reminding people of this.

Flightholiday has thrown ion a good idea for you just fly to Antalya it's not too pricey but you will need to buy your Turkish visa on arrival.
