Hi Folks,

Just a word of advise for those thinking of crossing to the greekside over the next 72 hours,

Due to the demo by the greeks tonight at 8pm and Tuesday in ledra street and ledra palace, higher security measures have been taken.

Also with the arrival of the Turkish PM on Tuesday Kyrenia gate area will have more police.

@ msg 1, Erkin: With all due respect: there is NO border crossing to the 'greekside'. From a Northern Cyprus point of view there is a border crossing to the Roc (Republic of Cyprus) where the population speaks Greek. And there is NO "demo by the greeks". Greeks live in Greece. Greek speaking Cypriots live in the RoC.

Msg 1 - Although maybe not quite 'politically correct' I'm sure we all get the gist of your meaning! Thank you for good advice!

Msg 2 DC

You are always complaining about the snide remarks & unpleasantness on this forum - Why then do you have to make such a pedantic, nit picking post? I'm sure Erkin was just thinking of warning people about making unnecessary trips across the green line at potentially dangerous time. Why not just take his advise at face value and cut the 'head teacher' attitude!

Hans Greek or Cypriot at the end of the day they are greek and we are turkish cypriot or not, who is to say if the people at the demo will be from greece or Greek cypriot, and for your information despite having a cypriot ID card, you might not need to go thhrough checks but everytime a turkish cyriot crosses over the the so called ROC our ID's or passports are checked by the police before we can enter. So next time you cross from ledra street or ledra palace look for the sigh saying Turkish Cypriots.and u will undertsand what i mean.

As for the demo i can assure you that more mainland greeks will be at the demo the greekcypriots themselfs.

@ msg 3, MAB: I value the words of Yorguzlu a lot more than yours. Let me put the quote as 99 - 1.

@ msg 5, Erkin: Demo from Greeks: I suppose you have far better inside information than I have. Have you?

▶ Sorry, Maggy! Typo! the quote should read 100 - 0.

Wow! a straighforward message in Msg.1 and it becomes an argument - very impressive (not).

Those who were born TC understand Msg. 1 perfectly - with thanks to Erkin.

They also understand that regardless of everything it is alas, the "Urum tarafı" for the time being.

The trouble is, the same folks tend to take a dim view of those who don't have a blood-link to Cyprus trying to preach to them about it.

I think message 1 was understood very well by every one.

But yet again in message 2 and message 6 and 7,THAT PERSON thinks he knows better and wishes to try and instill his views even on a local Turkish cypriot who posted this thread.

It really will be a great day when he makes his own forum and stays there.

Hi DC! I have been waiting for mmmmmm to disagree with your comment in msg 2 in which you state 'there is a border crossing to the ROC':

I agree with DC that the words "Greek" are used far too often when they are Greek Cypriots, it is easy for people to get the wrong end of the stick even if they understand the situation, we have a duty to be correct i these things as far as we can. Same as the border, it is a "de facto border" for all those in the North but for those in the South it is a "crossing point"

@ msg 12, Zero-she/he: Did no one ever tell you that a lack of knowledge is sad, but refusing to learn is much sadder?

P.S. Read msg 16 also, please.
