Just got todays 'Cyprus Today' and it seems the tax inspectors paid a visit to Soy'z Bar market on Sunday and were asking the stall holders for receipts!

Maybe not a good time to start a market.

Would that be receipts for renting the stalls that would be given by the venue owner or receipts that a stall holder should have and give out if they sell something?

It makes me smile when i think of them chasing the small money, because they cannot get in the huge lumps,i wonder why?

Haha do not knock it, I have seen the prices at these markets shoot up and do not blame the tax inspectors at all.

Its no longer just a few stalls etc its a business and prices of home cooked items are ridiculous so maybe the Brits have gotten greedy!!

You didn't mention the date that the new market is going to commence.

Is Soyz market closing down then, otherwise we'll have 3 Sunday markets at this end of town which might only serve to dilute stallholders/customers?

Soyz and Aquapark are both on the main coast road Catalköy.

Pembe Gul garden centre is up the Bellapais road from the traffic lights near the new harbour roundabout.

That's what I was wondering. Aquapark would be a great venue with lots of room, wouldn't it be better to keep all the stalls going together, along with any new ones that wanted to join in? Otherwise it won't look like a proper market.

The impression I got from people I've spoken to was that the intention was to try to do away with some of the 'tat' and second hand crap that has taken over at Soyz, to make the market more 'up market' and then introduce some second hand stalls later for the bargain hunters.
