Both Liz and I would like to publicly thank all the excellent staff and in particular Bashak(hope that is the right spelling) at Petcross ,for saving the life of Our Lab bitten by a blunt nose viper last Sunday. She was bitten in the eye whilst out walking in the early hours and Bashak, after we telephoned, came to meet us at the surgery.Pippa was very lucky to have such great care and attention and all the Petcross staff have been fantastic all this week keeping her alive. She is now over the worst, still looks awful with a very swollen face and may lose one eye-we are keepng our fingers crossed. We were lucky in that we managed to get her to the vets from Karsiyaka within 30 mins which gave her a fighting chance. To all the individuals who came and offered best wishes and encouragement on Sunday at the vets we thank you very much-it was much appreciated.Having used other vets in our time here we think we were lucky to get Petcross to help her.

Poor Pippa. Glad to hear she is on the mend and fingers crossed that the eye can be saved.

Well done Petcross...best vets we have ever had.

So pleased to hear she made it. We took our "Pippa" in to Petcross to be spayed Monday morning and were told about the other "Pippa" who had been bitten, hope she goes on to make a full recovery

Have to agree Petcross are by far the best vets we have ever used,Firdez has saved 2 of our dogs lives and we will be forever grateful to the whole team.

Thank you all for your kind comments but regrettably Pippa developed other problems and despite the amazing efforts of the staff at Petcross passed away yesterday. Both Liz and I are very upset considering the efforts both Tom at Flight Holidays and ourselves made to get her here last year.We would also like to thank Jan and Bill, our close neighbours for their support and help-they have made this all a little easier.Losing a dog, to those who understand, is a very sad occasion but we do have our other lab who is also missing her already. My advice to anyone with dogs -do your best to keep them away from snakes here in Cyprus, difficult though that may be.

Sorry to hear that Davliz.

Petcross are amazing and you know that she was in the best hands.

We have stopped walking ours now except on leads as it's not just the snakes but the poison. They seem happy but I wonder if our imported dog remembers those lovely free walks in English woodlands. Having said that he sure is good at lizard stalking and tree rat catching, talents I think he has learnt from our Cypriot rescue dogs!

Pippa will be waiting at the Rainbow bridge. Know exactly how you feel, best wishes.

I too am very sorry to hear about Pippa. I know that it takes a long time to get over losing a beloved pet. When my schnauzer died in January I couldn't move his water bowl for weeks. Take care x

I'm so sorry to hear about your Pippa. Our Pippa (Cyprus poodle) is sitting on my feet as I type and despite the fact that she woke me up 6 times during the night (wants to go into the garden to play by the light of the moon and woke the other three up as well) I forgive her!!! They bring so much love into a house don't they? I'm so sorry for your loss but glad that your Lab. has recovered.

Sorry to hear about Pippa, i am sure the petcross team did all they could.

My thoughts are with you as we lost our dog Hugo after an operation over the weekend as well.

We can all pray for a happy ending but sometimes its not to be.

Our thoughts are with you.

I have just heard from Dave about this. We are very sorry.

Not just because Dave and Liz made a lot of effort to take Pippa and Bailey to North Cyprus (we know the number of calls that went between us etc). But mostly because they and Bailey have lost such a good friend.
