There is one here Pipie but it does not seem to have much on it at the moment other than a statement of intent and some ads.

Spookily dated as todays date, but maybe the site just shows the current date anyway, I do not know.

Just looked at the source code and it would seem that the site I linked above does just show the current date, so I have no idea how long it has been there I am afraid.

Have a word with Alex Main at the Five Fingers restaurant, Ozankoy. They had a gardening club and web site a couple of years ago, although I think it's inactive now.

I am sure that Alex would love to resurrect the Gardening Club if someone could run it. ! As I understand it, it 'died' but that was the organisation that started the Summer Show in Ozankoy.

Of course, if someone wanted to start one somewhere else, I am sure it could be worth a go. But don't look at me, my green fingers are brown and I hardly know the difference from a weed and a flower. They aree all pretty fab to me and get watered alike.

I use 2 websites

http://www.gardenclubofcyprus.com/html/about_me.html

http://www.cyprusgardener.co.uk/

The former link is on the South side but I have spoken to her via email numerous times and she is more than helpful, especially to someone (me) trying to grow quite different crops to the usual.. She has published books and they are available in Bestseller book shop Karakum and also some others (I forget the names).. she also comes here (I think next time September) to speak on gardening issues

If there were an active forum for North Cyprus I think it would be very interesting. I am growing loads of unusual things and it would be interesting to share experiences with other gardeners.. The climate here does not fit to most seeds I buy so everything is an experiment

I think a gardening club would be brilliant! I for one would love to hook up with like minded folk and discuss all the different aspects etc...

Is there anyone here who would be willing to get one going??

If anyone wanted to run such a forum I would be more than happy to help them if they wanted with the technical aspects of setting it up. I am not a gardener myself and would not use such a forums personaly but would be more than willing to help those who are to set up such a thing. Just email me.

The one fawes posted seems like a ok one to me, not massive amounts of participation but then its a specialist subject.

Pipie, what is allowed on a forum is controlled by those that run it. I could and would help others set up such a forum but I would not be involved in moderating it, that would be up to those who wanted to run it. Having said that the one fawkes linked too seems ok on a quick glance , so why reinvent the wheel ? Give it a go and see what its like I suggest.

The problem I have when looking for information is that as someone mentioned there doesn't seem to be much participation in chat so I tend to use the American forums to get help and try to adapt them to our conditions as they have some parts with similiar conditions to Cyprus..

It would be interesting to know what other people are growing or trying to grow here- I will start another thread for that save hijacking this one

I was also wondering on C44 there is a 'gardening' section but actually most of the posts are about garden furniture for sale.. Should these posts be in the 'buying/selling' part?
