my son of 19 said good riddance he says people like her are disgusting and no roll model for todays youth, he hates drugs and what it does to people, but with her talent and money he says there is no excuse for it, and i tend to agree.

Forget talent, money, press, management, if you did or did not like her, or her music etc... think of her mother and farther... who just wanted their daughter back, she was 27. It could have been anyone's sibling without any of the above.

Who knows what that poor girl went through, everyone has different ways of dealing and coping with their demons, who are we to judge? This is a tragic waste of a young talented womans life, none of us can possibly appreciate how difficult it is to live your life under the media telescope, perhpas she wasnt a great role model, but for heavens sake message 13 have some compassion.

Yes i know i lost my hardworking clean living son MARC last year to an idiotic truck driver, he was mown down cycling to work that he had cycled for 12 years, he was 28 i will never get over it, my heart is broken, but life goes on and i deal with a charity called brake to comfort other parents who have lost cyclists, bike riders, my heart goes out to family and friends, but at least she had control over her death and could have prevented it, my son was not given that perogative.

Drugs, Drink, whatever, Amy was someones daughter, and she will be missed by them forever. Its one of the hardest things in the world for a parent to loose a child no matter what age or the reason. My heart goes out to the family.

bazzagirl - Msg 13. Notwithstanding hardly a girl at 54 - one wonders how such a perfect individual like yourself and your progeny (proof if ever needed, that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree) manage to exist in such an inperfect world - must irritate both of you no end.

Have you been hounded by press intrusion; unable to go out, enter a shop, swim in the local pool, have lunch with a pal, go out without make-up in a comfortable tracksuit - without having your photograph taken and people interrupting you never endingly? No-thought so. Whilst you and your son are on the way to the Charm school to have your fees reimbursed, may I suggest you put yourself in her parents position (in that regard you can surely empathise)? and if you cannot understand at your age that people 'eat' their emotions, or take alcohol/drugs to numb themselves to emotional pain or abuse their bodies as a 'coping' mechanism, then I would suggest you keep your polemics to yourself at the death of Amy

It is very sad news and, indeed, she had a very unique voice but it was as if I always expected she would die young. For some weird reason she reminded me as the modern version of Billie Holiday - also a jazz singer, addicted to drugs and alcohol.

Some film producer will do her life story now and laugh all the way to the bank!

Yes Amy's death is tragic.

We must all feel for those she left behind.

She was given so much support for her Illnesses and so many chances to rehabilitate but was found lacking.

As a role model she failed miserably and now hopefully her death may shock some fans into NOT trying to emulate her life.

Maybe some good will come from it ?

Before any poster says I am being callous, I had a younger brother who died as an alcoholic, after so many chances to rehabilitate himself. I took him in several times and know the agonies he went through when going "Cold "Turkey". NO good came from His death.

All i can say is this....I have been raising Hell ever since i hit my teens...and there but for the grace of God...i am still here to tell my tale...some people are simply sent here to tell a story...perhaps her downfall will save someone elses son or daughter....Role models are not always what they are cracked up to be....

I think Bazzargirl wrote about losing her son last year so she must know how parents feel about the death of a child, whatever the circumstances, so perhaps not one of her wiser posts.

RIP Amy whatever your troubles they are over now and we have the albums to remember what a talent you had.

Apparently 27 is a cursed age for many of the famous who died young! Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Janis Joplin were all 27 when they died. A famous and very popular rock singer Barış Akarsu also died at 27 during 2007...

Can we just take a little time out here....there have been many people killed in Oslo...through no fault of their own...Amy made a decision to flaunt the rules and to live life on the edge...those poor folk in Oslo did no such thing (as far as we know) aren't our priorities a tad screwed up here....??

proberley not one of my wiser posts but my son had NO control over his death, all the money fame and help Amy Wwinehouse had in this world, she choose her lifestyle, and paid the price, even her parents knew that, there is NO comparison between my sons death and hers, but i still have the deepest sympathy for her family and friends, because a child lost is a child lost, and NO body who has never lost a child will EVER understand that loss and the pain it brings ffor the rest of your living days, think yourselves lucky very lucky X.

Bazzargirl is entitled to her opinion the same as everyone else is, regardless if people agree or not. Nothing wrong in what she posted. a terrible loss, to her family, music industry and her fans, but self inflicted. She knew what her career choice entailed when she started out, so do not see how anyone can see that as part of the reason. Very talented lady who wasted her life, with plenty of chances to right it and with plenty of love and support from family. Some people you just cant help. If this was Joe Bloggs from down the road, who assaulted innocent people or stole to get their next 'fix ' I doubt very much they would be getting the same response. Heart goes out to Amy's family for their loss, but their it ends.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the poor victims of that terrible shooting, the young lives that will never get a chance to shine, never get a chance to be someone.... that is a tragedy.

I'm with msg 38 - If I ruled the world, the first thing I would do is erase it of ALL religion, considering there are more deaths in the name of Faith than anything else...

One reads she had a lifestyle choice; no-one chooses to have an addictive personality, or the way one handles emotional pain - one also has to question the "support" her Management gave her - to let her go on stage at times when stoned or drunk out of her mind - speaks completely of their avarice and of no concern for her wellbeing - her last concert where she was booed off stage a case in point - why did they let her go on? If I was her parents, they and her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, who received wisdom first got Amy hooked onto cocaine and heroin, would be my first port of call. Amy always reminded me of the late Frida Kahlo - both exotic looking women, whose work was so autobiographical - such a sad situation (I too miss Janis Joplin - another tragedy)...

As it already been said, any loss of life is a terrible thing. But while the courts pussy foot around with the likes of Pete Doherty, who I believe had appeared in court up to 20 times on charges connected with the use of Class A drugs, before being jailed, it sends the wrong message.

My thoughts are with the people of Norway today.

spot on you said so much that is true. Those that haven't walked in someone elses' shoes should not judge that poor young woman was in a lot of mental pain and so many of us numb ourselves with booze, fags, food etc. we all need crutches from time to time?

I was not a fan of Amy however it is such a sad loss for her fans, friends and family. If you meddle with drugs that is the risk. Hopefully a plus could come from this if youngsters, fans and non fans will learn that you only have one human life.. Dont waste it, life is not a computer game remember you only have one. You dont need drugs.

EamonnMc - Msg 49

Those who hated God and religion, e.g. Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and many others, were lovely fellows- never a cause of any trouble in the world and definitely ... no blood on their hands !!!

I disagree - Hitler said "Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord." Raised a Catholic, in a speech in 1922 he remarked, "My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Saviour as a fighter..."

Stalin. Communism is a comprehensive, all-embracing religion and not simply a political party, political system or philosophy

Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge were composed of Buddhists, Pol Pot was a Theravada Buddhist. He studied at a Buddhist monastery and then at a Catholic school for eight years. Cambodia's communism was influenced by Theravada Buddhism. Therefore, Pol Pot was definitely not a Christian, but he was also definitely not an Atheist

MsGarnet,

What Hitler said in 1922 and what he did during the war years were completely at odds. In 1922 he had no power whatsoever and was probably just saying what his audience wanted to hear ! He fooled Chamberlain with his weasly words and his acts during the war years are well known and rightly abhorred ! Religion was taken over in Russia by the communists (China also ) and therefor suppressed ! Pol Pot and his regime murdered all the intellectuals ( priests and nuns included ) and murdered his own people !! Their acts were the antithesis of God and religion and resulted in tens of millions of deaths and misery for hundreds of millions !!!

A source said: "Amy's family are expecting the outcome to be a heart attack or seizure and will be really shocked if it's not.

" In the end it was her booze addiction that killed her.

"She had had a number of seizures in the past six months due to the amount she was drinking.

"She was putting so much away towards the end, her heart just couldn't take it."

Hoylemiller, That is very sad news,

It is also agood point. Yes I care. I also think that the British Goverment shoud cease now from keep sending young men and women to early graves.

But was he fighting for our country ? or maybe another Country that we should not really be involved with.

The 'we have to be realistic' strategy

"Naively, many people took the view that we would turn it into a Western-style democracy ... We'd all love to have equal opportunities ... to have perfect human rights ... but is that achievable anywhere? I mean, how long has it taken a mature democracy in the West to get to that stage? Hundreds of years, and we're trying to say we can achieve that in 10."

Brigadier Ed Butler

Mastermind of UK strategy against the Taliban in Helmand

August 2009

The above is why when my daughter was in the TA at Uni, and likely to be deployed, I told her I would lock her up, rather than allow my Government to use her as cannon fodder. This man did NOT die defending our country, as usual, Government stuck its nose in, and achieved - what? He should NOT have been there, his family should sue Government. Amy chose chemicals, Corp. Palin chose the Army, their life choices sadly killed them both.

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-amy-winehouse-story/4od#3216484

A good programme on Channel 4 last night balanced and well presented its amazing how people can survive the intense press & public scrutiny.

AMY Winehouse's grieving dad Mitch told mourners at her funeral yesterday how she was on the brink of conquering her demons.

The 60-year-old cabbie gave a moving eulogy in which he said the tragic singer had made a "fantastic recovery".

He insisted she weaned herself off drugs three years ago.

And he said: "She was trying hard to deal with her drinking and had just completed three weeks of abstinence.

"She said, 'Dad, I've had enough of drinking. I can't stand the look on your and the family's faces any more'."

He added: "She was the happiest she has been for years."

Today people still remember the likes of Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe, Janis Joplin, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and of course John Lennon and Elvis.....I somehow feel Amy won't be remembered as such over 30 years from now!

msg 68 How right you are, whilst some of the above mentioned also had drug/drink problems, they were also super stars. Miss Winehouse unfortunately was seen as a role model by our youngsters, lets us hope that they do not follow her lead.

Msg 68 and 69 - Amy will most definitely be remembered in thirty years time, and beyond...both for having died young (we all remember Janis Joplin and her incredible soulful songs) and for having an amazing, unique voice, and especially, her album, Back to Black - an absolute classic...
