Come on folks! Let's have some views on what you think of the Star newspaper (sorry I meant comic). Anything you like. Cheeky if you want as nothing involving the Star can be taken seriously.

The only news it contains are of egotistic British who think having there picture in this paper makes them equal to Brad Pitt and Angelina, but i must admit i do have a good laugh at the pictures as you say hwilde, its comical. Whoever prints this load of c p, needs to be for the Beano.

Whenever I've seen it, the news is poorly presented, and the rest of it is just boring pictures of expats in various bars in the Kyrenia area (yawn!).

Message 6 Fawkes: I've just looked through the weekend Cyprus Today and can't find any capitalised italics. Would you give us an example please?

The Star is no worse than the lazy Cyprus Today, who expect ex pats to buy the rag no matter how downhill it goes. At least the adverts in CT give me a chuckle....see that one for Missina page 23 and see how many speling\gramma misteaks theeir are. I counted 8....can you do better? Michael

Shiny red faced Ex-pats each trying to outdo the other in the number of times they can get in front of the camera. I think some of them must save a fortune on their food bills as they seem to attend every "free" opening of every Bar or Restaurant both East and West of Girne. I must say I like to count the errors in Ads., but a lot of the blame should be fairly and squarely laid in the lap of those who send the Ads in (I know someone should proof read at the paper, but at least the people putting the Ads. in should have a stab at getting words correct IMHO). A few weeks ago there was an Ad for a restaurant and they couldn't even spell their own name correctly. Could have been a deliberate ploy though!! T1

Erm....yes....'Cyprus Star' does seem to feature too many 'Poms' doing a free 'dine and dash'! Great ambassadors for the UK - er, NOT!

If I am posting on this BB I dont give a xxxx about my grammar, BUT if I am spending good money putting an ad in a newspaper then it has to be spot on 100% correct. Michael
