Hi everyone,

I'm being treated for B12 deficiency at the moment and will be coming for a holiday to Dogankoy in a couple of weeks. Will I be able to get my B12 jabs if I need any, buying the serum there and getting jab done? If so, any idea how much this would cost and where would be the best /nearest place to go?

Many thanks,

Jane

Best bet Jane is to bring the B12 with you and if you phone me on 0533 884 5621 or e-mail me on trnchealthcare@gmail.com I am in your area on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning if you need one.

Thank you all so much for your replies.

Chris, I've noted your number and e-mail address, I arrive on aug 12th for 2 weeks. How much notice would you need and do I need to bring needles as well?

Hector, in case I forget to bring my own, can I just confirm that it's Hydroxocobalamin 1mg, and that I don't need a prescription? Also, would I need to make an appointment, and can you give me an address for the chemist? Is this a service that all chemists would offer?

Many thanks to you both,

Jane

The chemist in chatalkoy is certificated to give these injections which are free of charge. You can buy

the B12 from the chemist or take your own.My wife takes 1000 micrograms in 1 ml.We've used the

chemist fo years for all kinds of ailments. We have found him to be polite friendly and very professional.

Hi higgi, it seems you have had a number of helpful replies so far, and you are probably now sorted, but I'll add my two bob's worth as well.

I've been taking B12 for about 40 years now, following an operation for Crohn's, and as I live in what still has to be a third world country, albeit a wealthy one, for the last decade I've been buying it over the counter and jabbing myself (in the arm, as I can't stand needles in the bum...). I take neoctyamen.

The experts can advise here, but I just ask for B12 phials, and neocytamen is what they give me. The needles are very cheap, and never a problem to buy. But I was told that I needed a shot only once every three months...I have no idea whether the varying reasons for needing the shots would mean varying frequencies of taking them as well.

I guess the bottom line is that if you can't get a shot before you come, and you'll need one or more while you're in TRNC, it's easy to buy and easy to find someone who will inject you. Good luck.

Rottolover,

VitB12 injections cannot be given in the 'bum' so anyone who tries to give it there I guess just wants to see your backside!

Thanks Chris, that's something I didn't know. Just as well I've been aiming at my arm all these years...

Incidentally, why are you 'nurseawful' and not something like 'nursebloodyterrific'?

Funny you should say that about not being injectable in the bum, cos when I went to have one of my shots, it was a male locum instead of my female doc or nurse, and he asked me if I wanted to lay down. A bit puzzled. I said no, I was fine in the chair, and he said that it was less painful in the bum. I said that I usually had it in the arm, and again he said, yes , but it's less painful in the bum. I told himto crack on in the arm and I'd suffer the pain! I swear the pervert took longer and made it more painful than usual!!

Further on the subject of where to inject the B12, I was diagnosed in the TRNC as being B12 deficient and have been receiving injections for about 4 years now, both in the TRNC and in Turkey. Always in the bum! As the bum is where the gluteus maximus muscle is located and it appears that the injections need to go into a muscle...why not the bum?
