The many who use the Fast Food Cafe in Alsancak are likely to be aware of the 2 resident cats/kittens which have been kept barely alive by begging for food at the tables. With the consent of the owner of the Cafe and the assistance of KAR we removed them to the vets. The female kitten has been sterilised and treated for mastitis (3 lots of kittens in past 12 months), ear infection, and "wormed" etc. The male kitten has been neutered, treated for a hernia (thought to have been kicked), and treated for wounds which caused a blood infection affecting lymph glands, wormed, etc. They are now busy grooming themselves in their new, air conditioned home, with plenty of food, and sharing love with their new guardian. KAR paid for the the surgery and provided the new home. KAR have their critics but this is a small illustration of the work that they do, mainly unnoticed. They certainly get our nomination for a Gold Medal and we hope the continued support of all those who love animals.

Well done for this positive posting.

I think people tend to forget the work that KAR does behind the scenes and it rarely gets mentioned.

Good to know that these 2 kitties have been given the chance of a better life than what they had before KAR got involved.

Well done KAR!

I agree puppylover, no matter what you think about KAR, they are unsung heros. I just wish they had government help to boost their coffers.

Isn't it odd, the "detractors" are strangely quiet when there is a good news story regarding KAR. Thanks to those people who contribute to KAR coffers, were that there were more of you. If you see a collection box, just drop the odd bit of change in, it all helps and we don't mind counting it!!

Please don't forget the Charity shop in Girne which generates about 38% of KAR's income. We continue to trade even in the hottest weather and we are very grateful to receive donations of clothing, books, bric a brac etc..

We accept anything except cats and dogs as we have enough of them already.....please keep your donations coming as we rely on YOU to keep the Charity going .

Thank you

P.S. We always need volunteers, so if you have a few hours to spare give us a ring on 0392 8152490

The shop is situated just behind the Fire Station on the main road into Girne Centre, opposite Post Office. So if the Post office is on your right, the turning to get behind the Fire Station will be on your left, vice versa. Hope this helps, opening hours are 9.00 to 3.00 but would appreciate any drop offs between 9.30 and 2.30. Please do not leave any items outside shop if closed as they are likely to walk !

Thank you for your help and support.
