We have a friend who is having the same kind of problems. The rules are you must not be in the country for 90 days or more in any 1 year period. Regardless of whether you intend leaving or not if you are here for 90 days then they can hold you to do your military service.

Hope this helps

If you are Australian then you won't have to do National Service in the trnc.

Friend of ours is English by birth, passport holder etc, but his father (not mother) is TC, he was told if he overstayed, or ever applied for his Kimlik he would have to do National Service.

Look, clearly thare is uncertainty here, if you ask imigration or the military, it won't be any clearer and what is the rule today may not be the rule tomorrrow, so, I have a cunning plan, stay less than 90 days total and play it safe.

Just a suggestion.

we have a british friend who has returned to live here.

both parents tc, but he was born in the uk.

he had to do his national service .

be carefull, why not try contacting the emabassy and ask there advice?

it should be ok as long as you don't stay too long.

Make sure that the visa issued as you arrive in the TRNC is for 90 days and any re-issued visa will cover till your return flights have flown from Ercan.
