I'm always a little dubious about this kind of edited video on an obviously very political website. I'm not saying that It didn't happen as they say it did, just that I always wonder what was edited out of the video before publication.

This clearly shows a new side to TRNC police. I read in a report that the thug clearly seen beating protestors was recognised in the street in Karpaz region and got his just deserts from the public. As to the usual complains about Turkey and money from the Turkish community, they can take hike. Either pay the rent or get out is my moto.

cavalryman >>No different from the south or indeed anywhere << ?? Not aware of any state in the EU where the police remove id during protests - granted the Police often have a difficult job to do, and videos don't tell he full story.. but it certainly looks like the 'someone' wanted those banners ! >>the difference here is they don,t know when they are well off.<< Hall and Oates comes to mind.. "you're out of touch.." :(

I did not see any tear gas or batons charges and a large number of police, for such a small demonstration, were apparently injured. Are we sure these people were innocent demonstrators?

If police think they can get violent and suppress the people thy have another thing coming. The protesters will be more violent next time. This can escelate to full civil war if Eroglu continues with his stupidity. How long beofre petrol bombs come into the scene.

The CTP and DP are jumping on the band wagon and hoping we will all forget the disastrous mess they made when in power. As for the res t, I think I am right in saying that only the TDP have any small backing, with 2 seats in government. Don’t forget this is Cyprus and the truth often gets lost when it comes to self interest, on both sides of the great devide.
