For the over 30/40/50 group, seems to be a lack of places to go to hear good music.

Yeah, Johnny Hawkins is versatile and plays to a wide audience. Mostly though the music scene is Karaoke and ok for a laugh but not much use to serious music lovers. Some guy on the forum talked of moving here and getting a band together. He's been session guitarist to several bands so fingers crossed. You can hear some good music on dvd in Rocks and many bars /restaurants but there is a need for live performers who can play AND sing. Missed efes night cos no-one seemed to have much to say about it so felt it would be disappointing. Hopefully someone will post about how great it was. Ah well might get to go next year.

It was a great night absolutely jam packed and I reckon a good 90% of the audience were TC's. Three superb acts and I got to meet some friends and made a few more into the bargain. Keep an eye out for it next year you won't be disappointed.

Why doesn't one of the Bar owners hold a 'Strictly come Dancing' night.

I'm sure that would be a great night for all ages. After a few drinks can you imagine - it would be hilarious!!

hello mitsi thanks for your comments ! yep i hope to get a band together soon after re locating in april/may time and have had some encouraging comments from this site etc i have at the moment the prospect of a drummer, keyboards and another guitarist to audition and hopefully more nearer the time ! have played all sorts of stuff for all sorts of people so it is difficult to know which route to follow but my real love is 70,s stuff like "yes" wishbone ash" gary moore" the odd clapton and a bit of carlos as he seems to be popular with ex pats on this site ! bit on the heavy guitar loud side but its very popular here in the uk ! if anyone knows of some good musicians please let me know !!!

thanx Barry

Message for snakes.

amazed that you like Wishbone as I am probably one of their biggest fans. Seen them live 8 times and every time stunning. Best line up was Powell ( the most under rated guitarist of all time?); Turner; Turner; Upton. I even have a 67 re-issue Flying V due to Andy Powell( couldn't get an original) although mine is re as opposed to Maroon. Good name for the band would be Argus, one of the best albums of all time in my opinion. I am also a big fan of Clapton, Peter Green (with Fleetwood Mac),Gary Moore, B.B.and Freddie King, Pink Floyd Free, Purple and a nu,mber of others from that era. Don't forget to send me your Mobile so we can meet up later this month. Just been asked to do a guest spot with a guy called Serdar Tuksal next week (he is one of the best acts on the island) I have played with him a number of times before so it should be fun.

Watcha Gibo!

A man with taste! Played with Andy and Martin in 75 when Ted had a strat removed from lower regions. Great times. Still play the King will Come and other classic Wishbone songs in my repetoire which go down incredibly well. Played 2nd guitar for Clapton in 74 at the Rainbow, Findsbury Park on tour. Eric gave me his strat which I still play. Have 58 flying V which is incredible! Wish I was there to hear you but will be in NC with the mrs on the 19th Nov. Please send me your mobile via my email.

Hiya Barry

I am so jealous of you playing with both A.P and E.C. I did once play with John Miles ( a blast from the past but it was just before he made it big). How do I obtain your e-mail so I can send you my number?. Twin harmonies on King Will Come and Blowin Free?????. Or perhaps Blind Eye.

Don't tell me your V is a Korina original. Once played one at Vintage and Rare in Earls Court around 1993 and that was for sale at well into six figures!!!!!!!If it is an original I will have to arrange your demise so I can purloin it !!!!!!!

(Don't worry only joking)
