Thank you to everyone who came to support Kulaksiz 5 benefit evening. Thank you to Club Semina who donated 5 lira from every set meal sold and there were a lot. Thank you for all the raffle prizes donated, thank for to all the Liverpudlians staying at Semina who made it all possible, especially the entertainers.

Just thank you all from Kulaksiz 5 - you did us proud. The final figure is not yet known but will be published when available.

Last night at the Semina was really good, Billy is a great singer, Nooney was very funny especially as " the only gay in the village " the Liverpudlians are a great crowd. The only downside was the expat "comedian" telling a racist joke i.e. "Paki joke " a joke about a person with a hairlip and constantly using the F word, just wasn't funny. I hope he learns from this, I'm sure with better material he could be funny.

Good luck to the K5, I'm sure it will turn good for you in the end.

Hi Philbailey,

The comedy was not advertised as being blue, especially with approx 15 children of various ages there.

You cannot please all of the people all of the time, yes there was some what you might call politicially incorrect use of the word Paki. philbailey is right, I think you will find I did say it was a bit on the blue side in a post prior to the event.

Most of the young kids were runnng around and playing or wtaching TV in the area off reception, I really do not think they sat listiening to the entertainment.

All things considered, it was a superb evening and we already know it raised £800 which is not the final total.

Well done everyone and thanks Club Semina.

I am really pleased at the amount pf money that was raised but can someone please explain to me how an "unfunny tale" becomes suddenly funny because the f word is every other one.

Thanks philbailey

ballymurphy, I know there is something in the pipeline, will keep you all posted. Although K5 are probably th most talked about victims, they are by no means the only ones and it seems only fair a fund should be set up for all victims. Just my opinion. That said, if they win, it will pave the way for others who will have to spend less because they will have created the precedent. If it is wrong for one set of victims, it is wrong for all.

If someone could put a link to the article on NCFP, there are some good photos. The little black number was Paulines and believe it not, she used to be able to get into it, she probably could now, if she didn't need to breath.

I have just found out via the Stop the Blackmail in North Cyprus facebook Group that the final tally for the K5

group of whom I thought I was a member is 2,756 lira, in excess of £1000 at todays exchange rate. Just a pity I have to find out that way.

If this sounds like I pretty pissed off then you would be right, seems like the need to tell me, who has bothered to give them the publicity when they want is secondary to telling their familiies.

So when did 'blue' comedy (i.e. sexual content) start to mean racist?

Riddles he mentioned the word Paki, only once as far as I am aware, now if you want to make a federal case of it, go right ahead, but remember, the word only became racist due to some politically correct do gooder saying it is. That someone who comes from Pakistan has to be called a Pakistani is okay by me, but as far as I can see, the use of the word Paki is only a shortened version of it and not always meant in a racial context. The racial perception of a word is often only in the mind of the listener.

I have schooled myself into not using the word, not because if I did I would mean it in a racist way, but simply because I lived in a country where the politically correct have taken over.

NOw remember what the night was for, to help a group of pensioners with their legal funds, and remember this guy gave his services free of charge, I dont think a post mortem is appropriate or necessary.

Polly, correct! And these are the people who helped me decide finally to leave my home country.

Not sure what they are, descendants of the hippy era, or what? Whatever, they have helped to make Great Britain a haven of stupidity.

No, I was making the point that if the comedian had been advertised as 'racist' rather than 'blue' the ticket sales in Northern Cyprus, amongst ex-pats, would have been even higher (and even more money raised for good causes) ....the responses above confirm this.

Never thought of that Riddles. Seriously though, I was there, it never occurred to me he was being racist and it would be interesting to find out if Pakistani people find the use of the shortened version offensive. It is usually a case of others deciding for them. Like the dumbing down of Christmas, most Moslems are very happy to celebrate Christmas in the UK, and golliwogs are no more, yet wog actually stands for Wily Oriental Gentleman and has nothing to do with being black. In fact Golliwogg was the name of a doll character in childrens books in the USA.

Seems we live in an age when the will of a few is imposed on the many.

Oh you did Riddles, but sometimes, some things are best being allowed to go straight over the top of the head.

I agree Fawkes but money buys power and the services of the police here. In the UK the do-gooders shout louder than rational ordinary folk.

Yes, but then most of us did not see it as such, just a word, amongst many within a funny story, which I have to admit, do not even remember.
