After reading the stuff written about A Winehouse

do you know a artist/band (long term)

\not one hit wonders that never took drugs ?

please check your record/cd collection

Actually by some of the opinions check your 78's

Then the next thread will be film stars

Check out Snakes playlist (not a reflection on him or his charity work)

I would wager most classics were written by drugs users

Singers are not the only people who used chemical intervention to get through the day - Einstein's autopsy showed LSD and DMT, he was known for years to have consumed cocaine. Van Gogh downed gallons of Absinthe and so on and so forth...drug abusers can be creative, but can also end in the gutter with no teeth, stinking to hell, skin and bone, enduring a miserable demise having achieved nothing in their lives, and causing immense grief to their loved ones or indeed, strangers - like most things in life, using any form of drug doesn't MAKE you creative, but creative people may use drugs, or may not...........

Msg 3, couldn't agree more - more deaths due to alcohol (not least, car accidents killing innocents, often no the drunk driver, falling off balconies, fights...) and Saturday night in A&E can't move for drunks - who get seen to first because they are so belligerent, whereas other people needing help, sit quietly, in pain and misery...so are seen to last...

Tell you what - I reckon it would be a lot easier to give up fags than heroin, whether or not cigarettes are deemed by some to be more dangerous.

"...Otis Redding died when he was 26 years old. Until his death, his life was consumed by two passions--music and his family. There was no legendary drug use or drunken rages, no rivalries with other singers, no tempestuous love affairs. There was not even much fame and fortune--Redding's biggest hit, "Dock of the Bay," didn't hit the airwaves until January 1968, a month after his chartered plane plunged into Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin...."

But he was Otis!

keithr - message 13 - yes, him and Ronnie Wood. How the hell have they both survived? Mind you, they look like pair of cadavers.

philbailey - Eastenders - Phil Mitchell was a crack addict; I tuned in a week later and there he was, down "The Arches", fully recovered. Amazing
