My Sony laptop screen appears to have a Gas problem, the screen lights up but does not show anything, anyone know anywhere that could fix it and rough cost of repair?

Have you tried plugging in an external monitor?, it may not be the screen but the laptop that is the problem.

At least if you try this you have eliminated one possibility.

Another possibility is that the lead from the screen to the laptop has come loose, sometimes by pressing laptop casing along the edge where the body meets the screen you can force it back again. If that is the problem then it is likely to come loose again and you will need to open the case (depending on the model) to push it back.

If you do a search on google 'opening up a (make and model no. laptop). you will find lots of sites that will instruct you how. There is varying difficulty in doing this, sometimes you will need to open up the whole case and in others just remove a couple of screws and take out the keyboard.

Hope you are able to get up and running soon.

Unfortunately the videocard on a laptop is built into the motherboard and is not replaceable.
