The President’s Special Representative for Negotiations Kudret Özersay has strongly reacted against the information leakage to the Greek Cypriot press by the Greek Cypriot side, about the contents of the first intensified leaders’ meeting held on Monday.

Commenting on the content leakage in the Greek Cypriot Side, Special Representative Kudret Özersay announced that the Cyprus Turkish Side has launched an initiative at the United Nations on the matter.

“This shows why it wouldn’t be right to negotiate the map and figures falling under the Territory chapter at the moment” he said, adding that ‘information leakage disappoints the Cyprus Turkish Side and serves to increase its existing distrust” he said.

The Special Representative pointed out that information leakage in South Cyprus is actually aimed at sabotaging the possible success of the negotiations and also indicates the lack of good will.

He noted that manipulative Greek Cypriot press reports on the content of the negotiations aim to mislead the Greek Cypriot public on the Cyprus Turkish Side’s position.

Özersay called on the Greek Cypriot public not to be deceived by such ill-intentioned games.
