Yes, you will be on holiday for at least 18 months, then reality sets in. Hope all goes well.

Fawkes- this is a wonderful place. It doesn't take long to get used to having the odd 100TL note hanging around in your driving licence pocket..it won't be there for long. And one must always remember that the locals are the best and most courteous drivers in the world.

Don't know why some you live here. This is a great place. Ok a few scams but you get scammed in uk as well. Go home if you don't like all you do is moan.

Good luck chriswife you will enjoy and get used to the heat. Winters great here - apart from the odd "shower"!!!

Chriswife, welcome and good luck. I have been here a year and love it. Of course there are things that do not go to plan, but that happens anywhere. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

msg20 "Boo Hiss to litter Bugs"...Ah, you are getting a feel for the TRNC then? Try looking for the Hypodermic Needles on almost every Beach,Hospital waste from Syria I am told.

Chriswife, good for you. We've been here for four years, and haven't regretted our move for one nano second. The only thing i don't like doing is going to bed. The skies are so wonderful at night, and the sunrise is amazing.

Shrimp, if you do your homework, and don't leave your brains on the plane, life can be great here.

We now wished we'd made the move a few years ago.

As for the 'moaners', Ercan is that way -------->

Msg 16 - Redwine. I agree with you totally. If the UK ws so wonderful why did some of these moaners leave it in the first place.

Chriswife and any others that have just moved here or are planning to... I was born in London to Turkish Cyproit parents, born in Limassol.

(Yes we had land and property on the south of the island too, beleive it or not. We were not all living in tents like the Greeks like to say so.)

I have come and gone to Cyprus all my life. I have since moved out here permanently and it was the best decision I have ever made. Every place has its good and bad points. this is the rule od the world.

Considering we are not recognised by anyone as a country, I would say that the TRNC is not doing as badly as some may wish

No ,at least not at first sight, but take out of the equation the Turkish hand outs, and you get a clearer picture..

thankyou for the lovely comments here, it is very scary to do but sooooooo worth it done a month and feeling more settled now. made some lovely friends and not had one local cross word we have got 15 words in turkish down and feel encouraged to have a go(not like my spanish experiences) we can see the sea from home and using the pool to get trim. in the uk we joined the gym cost a bomb then never went hahaha. life is never black and white there are always shades of grey to say uk rubbish trnc great is daft we miss stuff(primark and cheaper meat) but are also still enthralled with the mountains and the sunshine again heat we soemtimes could do without. long may the love affair continue and for those that stay when it ends life is too short subject to externalities.XX

May your rose coloured spectacles never loose their rosy hue/ May life treat you as you deserve to be treated/may all your troubles be little ones/may fate prevent you from ever buying here/

Despite all that has been thrown at us here, we still love the place/

Chriswife,

Sorry to hear you have been ill but don't ever feel that there is no support. We as UK nurses are here to help, support and guide you to the appropriate Doctor, we are only a phone call away. 0533 884 5621

Sounds exactly like sandfly fever but then again everyone's symptoms are different.
