Does anyone know where to get accurate dates and times for Ramadan this year that applies to Girne?

I'm confused. I picked up a list from the local mosque today for dates/times. It does say Ramadan is 1st to 30th August but the individual dates and times listed only cover 29 days. Does anyone know why that is? Ramadan should be a full 30 days with Eid (Bayram) for 3 days after.

I've also found conflicting times with internet publications so I'm not sure what is right. Any help appreciated.

There are no muslims left in this country unfortunatelly. If you can find out the nearest mosque, imam probably can help you.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/25/ramadan-2011-dates-fasting_n_908603.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000008

"In 2011, Ramadan begins on August 1. The ending of Ramadan is marked by the holiday of Eid ul-Fitr, which takes place either 29 or 30 days after the beginning of the Islamic holy month. This year Eid ul-Fitr will fall on August 30."

So Pippie, you'll only have to fast for 29 days this year.

I don't know about Northern Cyprus, but here in the Middle East the start of Ramadan is when the new moon is sighted by the Moon Sighting Committee. This is "predicted" to be on the night of the 31st but is not cast in tablets of stone, also, moon may be sighted earlier in other parts of the world. Ramadan ends when the next new moon is sighted.

I agree the start of Eid is not "cast in stone", but the dates in this link are consistent with those in msg 3 :

Almaz in this world you can get teachings of Islam any where. Every where there is a true path.

pipie the Ramadan month is an Islamic month as we all know that Islamic months are lunar months related with the conditions of moons. some month are with 29 days some are 30. depends upon the moon, every month start with the new moon and finish with old moon between every month there are two dark nights or may be one . that's why some times moth consist on 30 days or some times 29 days this time Ramadan consist on 29 days so 1st date of Ramadan is 1 of august and we have 29 days for Ramadan so Eid ul fiter is on 30 of august . if you want to get the sehr time and iftar time as wel you can get calendar of Ramadan from any masjid

Many thanks for all your answers.

And especially thanks Xaybee for your explanation of why 29 days this year. Although i don't agree 100% about being able to get clear and accurate teachings anywhere about Islam (but that's for a different debate)!!

I got a calendar from my local masjid but the times given for Girne are quite different from what I had found published in other places. I can't always hear the call from the mosque where I live so I'll have to hope I've chosen the right times (I've chosen to use the link provided by Goonerboy - thanks Goonerboy).
