Sorry if that subject line has raised hopes for all you black beer quality controllers out there.

But you might remember that recently I posted a request for info on a low cost property for a quick cash purchase. As promised, I have arranged to travel out with missus Guinness next Thursday for 8 days to look at opportunities and hopefully do a deal somewhere.

My great thanks to those of you who have helped me with my quest, but my options are still very much open. (You can still p m me or leave contact detail here).

Meanwhile when I arrive I will get a card for my unblocked phone and will be in contact with some of you.

So apart from going to Lambousa market on Saturday (when I can find it). I will be pleased to try out any restaurants that you would all recommend, and maybe meet some more of you too.

Again my thanks for all of your help.

Cheers

Newlad, you run round and I will do the grunting for you.

This time I have asked if I can have a room facing the mountains. Time will tell.

Dear Guinness,

You only get what you pay for ? and if a deal sounds to good to be true then it is probably is !!!!!

Good luck

Thanks Saffi, at my age I think I can work that one out. So far no deal offered seems too good to be true. But that is also why I am coming out tomorrow to check some offers out. (I have also invested in property abroad elsewhere).

I have the very kind help from some individuals on this forum too. But having worked in TRNC for 2 years I already have some good and trustworthy local contacts. So hopefully my hand is being held firmly and being guided in the right direction. I will report back !

cheers

Starry - will give him a call but is he selling these houses at my budget range? - Don't think so.

Fiery - thank you. But don't worry I am not a beer swiller despite the handle. Just a couple of glasses of wine a day will do and a G&T at sundown - like all expat workers !

Appreciated both of you

cheers

Throwing this back to the top just to say a big thank you for help from members here and also the many people we saw in-country. I will be contacting some of the special people we met - you know who you are !

Were we successful? Are there 'bargains' out there?

Yes there are bargains as we suspected, we have a short-list and are negotiating on a couple, with a third having an absentee owner for a while. Some bargains are ground floor apartments, which maybe some pople are now regretting buying in view of the pettey crime described in another thread here. We were not looking for ground floor apartments anyway thankfully.

Unfortunately some people, despite being desperate to sell, are holding on as they want to match the price they paid at the top of the market for new builds 12 months ago. Understandable, but they do not wish to confront the costs and interest that they are incurring in the meantime. But its their choice.

Again, thanks to all
