Best bars and places to meet people

Hi all,



Having recently separated from my husband and not lived in UK for around 11 years I am planning to move to North Cyprus in January for at least a year. It will be just myself so I naturally wish to make some new friends to help me settle in and feel at home. It would be great if you could recommend some good places to go where as a women on her own (who's a little shy at first) I would feel comfortable going and I could meet people. From a lot of the posts I've read you all seem like a nice friendly bunch of people so I'm very hopeful that this isn't going to be too difficult.



I am planning of renting something either in or close to Kyrenia although I', open to suggestions of other great places to live too.



I'm 45 enjoy Travel, long walks, swimming, reading, dining out, sitting watching the world go by and of course I very much enjoy a good glass of red wine.



Any advise recommendations appreciated

Hi Barbara. If you like walking and good friendly places to eat and drink, one of the best areas is Lapta.

It has Bars and resturants and I dont think you would ever be afraid of going out alone. My wife has been over on her own a couple of times and has never had any bother at all, and the people are all very friendly and helpfull. One of the best places to go and meet people is Silver Rocks, Beautiful setting and good food also not very expensive.

Thanks for your replies, how far from Kyrenia in lapta nigeti? Is it a big or small place?

Lapta is around 7 to 8 miles from Kyrenia.

Have you visited the country before, or are you going by advice from others who have?
