First edition out today.

Edited by the ex Star editor.

99% pics of expats in bars, 1% other stuff.

Fortnightly.

Makes the Star look good.

Still, early days.

That should be funny, all the worst features of the Star now encapsulted in the Sun. If that is all it's going to be it is doomed, thankfully.

Pity about the rip-off name but then when was he ever original?

@ msg 2, No1Doyen : (...) "99% pics of expats in bars, 1% other stuff" (...)

▶ Who objects to the sad truth in Northern Cyprus? In the past three-four years the influx of sad export articles (the "tattoo brigade") from the UK can be viewed in the Kyrenia Harbour and in the disgusting junk food area of Burger King. Just the truth - with an own "news paper".

Would the new editor be the failed bar manager with the always clicking camera?

If so then i will give this new publication a definate swerve as it will probabbly be same regurgitated junk that was served up when he was in charge of the Star.

NCFP guarantees never to be full of pics of anyone in bars, but we might carry a pic if it is part of the story.

We need contributers, go on, you might surprise yourself.

Reading some of this stuff on the forum !!!

Not surprised that the TRNC has become what it is, with small minded people sniping at everything and anyone.

If half of these people still resided in the UK

They would be filling the courts with DEFAMATION of character charges

Congratulations !!! New Cyprus Sun

What a wise Wibow you are!

as towhy the floods of Brits (and I am one, I guess -but for reasons quite different to anyone else's I wager), many dream of retirement in the sun and have properties that can help them realise that dream.

But please, we are not all the same. |I have no tatoos, nor extra holes in my anatomy other than those with which I was born (and nor does my husband), so we are odd man out. Or are we? Probably allthe others such as ourselves are not seen in the harbour. come on DC, the world is full of many different kidns of cultures, colours and characteristics. It is certainly not a grey world, and if there is a bit too much colour among the Brits - then stay in your own comfort zone.

or better still, if all you can is the bad by which you are surrounded, get out there and do something for somebody else to make their life brighter - and that doesn't mean giving them a tattoo.

Whats wrong with tattoo,s ?

Millions have them are they all wrong to have them ?

They are not for me personally but just look at the people who have them ,..yes there will be the usual suspects but most if not all of the servicemen I know have them , David Beckham has one or two and my mate Daz has them ,.............They are good people and I fully respect them all.

Back to the Cyprus Sun. Has anyone actually read it that can give a constructive comment? The price is a little higher so does that mean you're getting more for your money?

I bought a copy this morning and it is only 1.5tl, hardly expensive.

However it is only fortnightly (or so i was told) so it is not going to be easy to fill it with current 'news' items.

Any 'news' items would be an improvement on none.

Mess 11;

I 'read' it which is why I started the thread.

Early days.

Oops, sorry for the confusion. When I said it's a little higher, I was thinking compared to the Cyprus Star but when it's sold for 1TL on Saturdays (not bad value then!)

what is LCD?

By the way, the 'proprietors' of the paper is the one and only Birol Bebek who is the owner of the Zoom group of publications. Nick is now editor of the english Zoom In and has started this paper with and for Birol.

Just thought you would like to know that. But I still want to know what a LCD is?

Marion;

Are you still with Zoom?

LCD = either Liquid Crystal Diode or Lowest Common Denominator.

In this case I think mess 19 refers to the latter.

Again I ask, newscoop, why do you ask if I am still with Zoom. I was until a few days ago, but want to know why you ask.

as my young son used to say 'quite couple'. In the past16 months, I think we have had several, mainly volunteers, and others have been asked but who had littletime - and no Nick, making about 5. But really it is birol's baby, and he doesn't have time to feed it properly. it has great potential, sowaitand see! What more can I say?

Ah but DC - 'this is Cyprus' ! Never expect this to resemble anywhere else, or you will be constantly disappointed. It is also difficult to be loyal to anything, because it disappears from under your very nose - as has Cyprus Observer

Correct Pauline, but I was writing for Zoom In when I was writing for Cyprus Observer, and also for another publication which, like many others, got into financial difficulty.

As to who buys Zoom In, obviously Claire Cat doesn't! Much of it is freely distributed but it is on the book shelves of supermarkets and some folk buy it - or my fans did!

Now I am just a rising star (like so many others) but going up is better than going down!
