There will be an excavation of a turtle nest tonight, and a releasing of baby turtles found this morning.

Meet at Guzelyali Restaurant at 7.00pm Karsiyaka beach. Everyone is welcome.

Please remember that no flash cameras are allowed, when turtles are walking towards the sea.

That was done a few weeks ago, but I am sure no one will mind if you go down NN and do a bit of clearing up, cos the people seeing to the Turtles are hard pushed for time. So, if you have a bit of spare, do help out. the turtles will love you for ever.

Well said Message 3! Was down there several times while over a week ago and was pleased to see how much cleaner it is looking. I did pick up a few items and put in bin and my friend actually told off an English boy who she saw throwing a plastic bottle into the bushes last year. Maybe the giant turtle in the centre of

Girne has had some effect.

coming from Kyrenia one drives seeminly 'for ever' -= about 12kms (an someone can correct me on that), but you go through Karaglanoglu, Alsancak, the Lapta Strip andon t Karsiyaka 'square', cntinue on past an army camp and you will find th e beach on your right hand side. Opposite a small hotel called Guzaelyali is a smalbeach cafe, the first onne you see, and thatis where people meet. If I stil don't make sense then ring Triciaon 0533846 9563 and sh will put you right! ANd I knowy ou will be welcome to w`itness tis wonderful peice of nature. fascnating.

Message 3 - Naughty Nick. I assure you we do pick up the plastic rubbish every day as part of the patrols, but glad to know you are still concerned about the place.

Msg 2

How about giving them a hand, instead of the usual smart remarks.

I would also say to NN - were at Alagadi this week. The beach was completely clean and noticed there are new signs as you enter the beach about not leaving rubbish.

Marion full respect for your efforts BUT you are peeing in the wind wasting time money and recourses stop the t/cs leaving litter on the beaches especially plastic bags and more turtles will survive. than ever will by releasing them on the beach. imho

Message 13 It is not just t/cs leaving rubbish as a regular bather on Nature Beach we have observed

blatant rubbish dumping by ENGLISH! And we have told them off.

Nature Beach is the closest to Turtle Bay and the Korineum Golf Club. If coming from Girne after Alagadi

turn-offs, and then a U- turn round past poor guard dog.

Couldn't agree more, message 17. If everyone played their part in caring, the island would be a better place , and what better place to start with the message in the schools (which is happening). It is amazing how many children educate their parents in things environmental. and thanks to SPOT for doing their bit.

the only consolation is that it is not just here that people are bad with their rubbish - take a look at some places n U.K, but that is no excuse for us being as bad.

My grandson has gone to bed tonight an ''happy chappie''. he released a turtle called Jake onto the sea.

At seven years old, he remembered what the difference is between a turtle and a tortoise, and was very proud to explain to his 'Bampi'.

My neighbour and I collected over a carrier bag full of rubbish on the walk back to the car. A half full bag

was left just behind where we were standing for the release!!!!!!!!!!!

It will take a time to educate the un educated, but perseverance will prevail.

Thanks to all the turtle project for the experience my grandson enjoyed this evening, especially the Welsh

lady,(sorry, I don't know her name), she made Jake amd Ethans evening, Thank you

Not sure if this is a daft question, but, are all the turtles released at the same time or will there be a chance to see more perhaps tonight?

Chris

Most nights there are hatchlings to release now. Call the project and check it out.

Hi,

Coming out tomorrow, so really hoping we might be lucky enough to catch this one evening. Is it ok to just turn up in the hope there will be a release? Not sure we will be able to access internet whilst over to check websites.
