This Orthodox High Priest has been spewing out his racist, fascist venomous drivel for some time. With establishment attitudes like this how can there ever be an acceptable intercommunal agreement.

The perception of British expats in the south is that the North is filled with thieves, conmen and rapists. That it is filthy with rubbish, with no hygiene or proper toilets. I wonder where they get that impression from? Solution, not a chance; separation is the only way forward.

brother; I've said it a million times in different posts before. The priests of Greek Orthodox Church and its followers all over the world whether they are in Greece, Cyprus, Russia, Serbia etc. have a history of being extremely active as well as very influential in local politics. Priests of this branch of Orthodox Christianity had always preached hatred, death, and racism, as they do to this day in the South, every Sunday during their sermons. What kind of a God believer would encourage his followers to kill other humans based on their nationality and religion? If you look deeper into history of Conflicts in Europe, you will find Orthodox church leaders sticking out like sour thumbs!

while the tc side were unfairly oppressed, it is nonetheless possible to understand the c. orthodox church's viewpoint for centuries christian communities in "europe-southeast" felt they existed only at the whim of the local ottoman administration (citation needed?) forget for a moment that in both cyprus and malta, repressive and foreign christian elites dominated the islands for very long periods too but in the local mentality, the plucky orthodox church was the champion of religion, culture, national and tribal identity ...and according to many, helped greek cypriots finance purchases of land so well that "gc-owned" land went up from zero in 1878 to 92% by 1974 naturally the church wants to retain a dominant position in the minds of its flock just as their polish catholic cohorts were a force capable of uniting the people, against a foreign-backed regime in the 1980's what is best for "cyprus" now? it all depends on whom you think you are
