Mainly the problem in Girne itself is ease of parking. Most people want to park outside especially to drop off. I knew the first video and Dvd shop in Girne, they did a very good business for many years until in the end, too much traffic and then parking restrictions. The business declined and they moved to the outskirts and business is booming again. Also in Girne the rents are high therefore overheads are higher.

I have the ideal shop for you with no parking issues and reasonable rent and in a well populated area.

Be different to the rest, incorporate some sidelines, wireless internet, fotocopying, fax etc. I think one of the most important things is to always be up to date and know your stock of films & games....

Owning and running a business is hard in the TRNC, but with such a low outlay business you should be able to achieve a profit with a little bit of luck...

You can download such content from the internet but it takes time, data allowance if you are on a limited data plan like 3G connection, and then more time and effort and some expertise to re encode the formats and transfer them to DVD or BluRay disk if you want them to play from 'standard' dvd or blueray players. For some this is no problem, espcially if you play the content direct from your PC to your TV, but for others this is enough to make buying a DVD or BluRay disk a more compelling option, like those with 3G net connections or those who do not have their PC's directly conencted to their TV but do have a dvd or blueray player.

NN msg 7 just for info those who are serious about obtaining such content from the internet do not in my experience generally use peer to peer torrent systems to obtain it. There are better sources than torrents for many reasons and those that know use these.

If you go ahead, and get games in get some for the XBox as no-one in the North stocks XBox games and my son has to go South to get his games or get family to bring them out.

Also checking that the dvds you are selling are of a decent quality!

So often we buy films here to get half way through and the film cuts out, or as the opening credits come up they are all wonky and you wonder how has the person downloading it not even checked the first 30 seconds of the film?

Fine they say 'bring them back and we will change them' but by the time you drive home and realise the film doesn't work its a pain to get back in the car to drive to the shop!

Would rather pay extra for a guaranteed decent quality copy
