The Cyprus issue was ranked high in Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s recent adress to the nation.



“A solution will be in benefit of both sides in Cyprus. But every one must know the fact that Turkey will never allow any initiative against the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, nor it will bargain with the European Union or with any other authority” Erdoğan stressed.

Turkish Premier Erdoğan laid emphasis on the fact that the Turkish Side has sincerely and continuously made efforts in favour of the establishment of a federal partnership in Cyprus by two politically equal founding states, but complained that the Greek Cypriot Side did not show the same good will and reconciling stance.





“We will continue to support the TRNC” Erdoğan said, adding that new projects are lying ahead with the aim of promoting the economic and structural development of the TRNC.

It sounds to me as if Erdogan has given up on Turkey joining the EU, about bloody time I say.
