Of all the accidents reported in the newspapers, almost all say that the driver lost control of their vehicle.

I would like to know how or why they lost control. Possible causes are:

1. Front tyre blow out causing the driver to lose control.

2. Mechanical failure. Brakes, steering, wheel falling off causing loss of control

3. Driver on mobile phone whilst waving the the other arm around causing loss of control.

4. Driver turning around to speak to rear passengers whilst waving both arms around causing loss of

control.

5. Child on drivers lap suddenly pulls on steering wheel causing loss of control.

6, Driver signals to turn but does not do so because their turning is another four turnings along,

resulting in confusion when a vehicle assumes they are turning and pulls out causing loss of control.

7. Driver unaware that they he/she is not the only one on the road is confused by oncoming traffic

causing loss of control.

Are there any more me

"The driver lost control of their vehicle." Surely this should read either, "The driver lost control of his/her vehicle" or, "The drivers' lost control of their vehicles"?

How strange - nobody mentioned loss of control due to excess Effes - how nice, nobody lost control while smoking - guess drunken smokers make up the majority of safe drivers here so now you know how to drive safe!

Been driving in Cyprus for many years - standard very bad !!

Been driving in England for many years - standard very bad plus many drivers very arrogant and aggressive.

large BMW of some sort passed us 'tween Nic and Fama'G last year and he must have been doing 140 - no joking !! And he was on his mobile!!!!

Suggest " go with the flow" and take your time without being a bloody nuisance and as they say around here " better late than never"

Another big problem here of course is the vehicle itself. The very idea of only fix it if it stops working, really does not make for safe driving. The standard of tyres here is a national disgrace. The most important parts of any vehicle are the tyres (your only point of contact with the road surface) and the brakes, which should be able to stop you safely. Look along side the roads as you travel about, it is very rare not to see tyres or tyre treads in the gutters. This is because so many tyres here are remould and anyone who drives at silly speeds on remould tyres is asking to die AND THEY STILL DO IT!!!!!

I watched a policeman yesterday pull a woman over for having a drink in her hand and slurping from the straw in Kyrenia, I was impressed
