UB40 - Date of show brought forward to avoid the Clash

19th August was the original date of the show until that is, Paul from King's Bar in Esentepe realised that he had asked Pearl to do a charity fund raiser for The Kemal Saracoglu Foundation on the same night as the UB40 gig.

Unfortunately, that means that one of the gigs will have to be brought forward two nights to Wednesday 17th August - question is, which one ?

Initially, both bands dug their feet in and refused to alter the date of their gig, but one of them had to concede and in the end the best band won ?

Daniel will be doing one of his guitar solos to raise more money for the foundation and the Pearl will be trying out some more new numbers to add to the new Rock Anthems that they added at the last gig - Summer of 69, Living on a Prayer, Hold the Line.......put the date in your diary and bring your dancing shoes !



Paul, please can you add more details about start and finish times, catering arrangements etc.

I agree with you Marshmallow - Washerman's message is very confusing ... in fact when I first read the subject of the thread, I thought the Clash ("London Calling" and all that) had reformed and were coming here to play!

It looks like I'd better clarify exactly what is happening.

Originally, it was thought that there was only going to be one gig with one of the bands set to play on the original date - Friday 19th August, but then, when it was realised that both bands were set to play on the same night, it was decided that one of the band's gigs would have to be brought forward to Wednesday 17th August. The Clash was causing a big problem because neither of the band's wanted to re-arrange, but eventually, one of them did so now, the first gig is being done by one band on the 17th August and the second gig is being done by the other band on the 19th August. The Cure was that the dates were changed to avoid the Clash !

Michael, just turn up on the 19th as planned and ask who is on at the Doors !

If you do go in to watch, make sure that you sit in one of the Shadows, especially if the sun is still up, it'll be at least Three Degrees cooler

However, the group might be Pretenders, but didn't they perform at Escape Beach last month.
