Just like to say HELLO to all on this forum having been an avid watcher? for many months

Arrived in TRNC last month and settling in at our new home in Ozankoy

Have to say contrary to a lot of posts on this forum, our move here has gone like a dream, from the building & buying, removals & shipping, transporting of our dog to TRNC, even to Steph (my wife/boss) being offered & taking a position at G.A.U. which has resulted in our move here three years before we intended

Am looking forward to joining the discussions, arm wrestling? on this board and hopefully helping a few others with their move

well done dundun or should it be dun dundun either way we almost have a tune.

I really think this will prove to be a major turning point in the transition process for people comming here. Your arrival, without incident will hopefully hearald a new dawn in the whole process.

Never again will we read about problems with builders, shipping, customs, and that most anoying of subjects - pets, which is rightly an anagram of pest.

Your wife/boss will be working at a fine institution, one which our daughter is very happy at, and all of herfriends there seem equally happy.

Welcome on board, and lets hope your experience is one that many more will in the future enjoy also.

Cheers

Brian

dundun,

A very wise move re-homing the animals.

Daughter is in Y1 of the Primary, though she thinks she is a teenager!

Hi DunDun So glad to read a positive post on this site. We are moving

to Ozankoy early next year into Syndey Apartments but with all the negative

posts about work permits, land issues etc, it makes me wonder what we

are doing. So glad to read you positive post. Thanks.

Whilst on the work permit issue do you need one if you are over 60 I heard

not but not sure if this is correct.

Hi Tricia

re work permits, i do not know the in,s and outs of them, all i do know is that G.A.U. took care of Steph's. I am sure someone else will know on this forum.

p.s. if you are suggesting that i am over 60, not quite lol

Dundun,

I have a feeling we might be neighbours! We are Sue and Wayne from number 8. We have met Steph but left before you arrived. Welcome and hope you enjoy life in Ozankoy.

Hi Dundun and welcome to the forum, glad to hear everything went well with the move.

Could you please let me know if you used a company to take your dog there , or did you manage to sort things out yourself. We are looking at bringing our dog in about six months she has a pet passport and all the jabs, I just need to know of the best way possible to get her there please.

Thank You Tracy

Hi Tracy

thank you for the welcome

re. your dog to nc we used Air pets to transport our dog over, very good service. their no. is 01753 210400 web site http://www.airpets.com

also KAR have good info to download ( http://www.kyreniaanimalrescue.org )

you will also need to contact your local DEFRA office re export licence as pet passport is not allowed for nc, although we found when we arrived that was all they wanted? it helped to speed up the release from the quarantine kennals which is up to three weeks, we got our dog out after 7 days.

If i can help anymore let me know

dennis

Thanks very much Dennis if I need any more info I will ask, we have a pet passport for our dog, however I think we are going to have to do the rabies vaccine again it was done a while ago and we will not be coming now until next year, dont exactly know when!

Is everything going okay there, but most of all are you enjoying yourselves (hope you are)

Welcome to Dundan from me too. I have had places here for around 10 years and have to say my experiences have generally been positive. The trouble is those with complaints are by nature those who shout the loudest and longest, and with good cause I might add. I can only say that I wouldn't ever return to the UK by choice for all the faults there are here. In am sure I speak for the vast majority of people who are residents here. I am also equally sure it isn't only the wall to wall sun that keeps us here but the lifestyle. That was brought home to me on a recent business/personal trip to the UK. It took me 20 minutes to cover less than 5 miles in the Black Country, nobody had a smile on their faces [who can blame them?] and the damned place was infested with cameras. In fact I discovered on hiring a car at Stansted airport they actually take your finger prints when you hire a car now. Glad I'm finished with the place!!!

welcome dundan!

tracy re your pets jabs.

for north cyprus you will need your pet passport.

the rabies jab will have to have been done within 1 year.

the jab used in the uk lasts for a duration of 2 years.

but defra won't issue the paperwork unless it has been done within the last 12 months.

something we found out when we brought our dogs here.

lots of red tape but worth it.
