Hi.... we are a couple looking for a fun night out at a Casino on the East Side. We are not hardened gamblers so are not looking for high stakes etc.... just an enjoyable evening with a bit of fun.

Can anyone advise on which Casinos would be best to go to and what sort of stake money you would need?

Thanks

Can you still use the casino if you have residency stamps in your passport?

@ waddo; People with residency permits, work permits or TRNC citizenship are not 'legally' allowed in casinos. But almost all casinos will allow you to enter at your own risk. If you get caught (police does routine checks in the casinos, sometimes warning up front sometimes now) for the first time, you will be brought in front of a judge and usually can get away without any fine by apologizing, but it will be entered into your permanent record regardless.

@ silverfox1; Determine your bankroll before entering the casino, in your case anywhere between 100-300USD should suffice. Never spend more than your bankroll. If it is fun you are after, you should always choose minimum stake tables and/or machines. Never enter a casino with the intention of winning. If you want to have fun, have fun. Cyprus casinos are best at offering this because you get to have free drinks and food.

I dont think I made an inane comment. I have worked with people with gambling, drug and drink addictions.

I can assure you that for them it all began as 'just a bit of fun'

kbsat; "But almost all casinos will allow you to enter at your own risk."

Casinos cannot "allow" knowing you are a resident. If the punter is arrested, the casino owners also get legal action plus a fine against them.

Msg 6 I agree when bank roll gone go home but you will have had an evening of fun. If playing roulette I usually go min stake No 14 and then the for corners so covering all six numbers No 14 have 2 bets and the rest 1/4 odds. It comes quite a lot and keeps you going for several hours. (come away when you have busted them!!!)

@bigOz; this is exactly what I am saying, casinos are letting people in at their own risk (meaning they do not provide you protection from legal issues) and they are willing to take that risk for themselves. You will be allowed in 99% of the time if you are local or with a residency or work permit. Casinos make a lot of money off these people, especially off-season time, that it justifies the risks for them. K.

My wife and I had a fun night out at the Colony Casino, we took 50TL each and had a good evenings fun.

Free drinks, eats and cigs. while playing the tables, so if you "play your cards right" you can have a "free" night out!!

Need your passport for ID, no entry fee.

Didn't know as a resident you couldn't use the casino?

No questions were asked when we handed over our passports for ID and our residency stamps were clearly visible.

My neighbor is a Cyptiot and he goes to the casino regularly.

99% can have fun without becoming addicted?

I dont know the figures but I would probably think its more than that. However how do you know who is going to become addicted?

Like I said, I have worked with people who have addictions. None of them would have believed they could become addicted. I have seen the damage caused to peoples lives, and the family breakups caused by these addictions. I would still say steer away from gambling.

Not an inane comment, just a comment on my experiences.

Thanks all and Fosterscan. As for DoctorW please keep you views to yourself or on another thread as even suggesting that I have a gambling or drinking problem I find offensive and I do not need to be preached at reagrding your views on gambling!

Hi Silverfox, I have tried a few casinos and the Malpas is best for me purely as I somehow went in with only about 80 dollars and walked out after 2 hours with 1300 dollars. I was lucky as I was getting rather drunk by then and the wife called asking my wereabouts, obviously 'I am just getting in the car now' so I had to leave and didn't get the chance to lose it all.

I only ever going in with a small amount and once it's gone it's gone. I usually venture to a casino after a night out so I know I never have much cash by the time I get there. I have a few beers and a couple of packets of fags for free and win or lose I always have a good night.

I have always used my TRNC driving license for entry as don't like taking my passport on a night out and that has always been fine, assuming you have 1 that is.

Any happy gambling and 'iyi shanslar' (spelling) 'good luck' the way the dealer says it before every hand

Walking distance philbailey. Taxi from town or which bar I may be in to the Malpas and the 30 min walk from there gives me time to sober up (a little) before I see the wife.....
