take a note of the dates you hire the car, also the reg. number. Friends were almost fined for a rental that had been returned.

Hi,

I am an expert in getting speeding fines with rental cars, lost count of how many i have got over the years.

What has happened to me each time I flew back in to Ercan i get issued with a piece of paper and you get 48 hours to pay your fine at Girne police station. This has not affected my English driving license with points.

I know i should slow down but it the speed over the crossroads junctions and as you pass some army camps that i get done at, they ae well signposted. So justy my fault, not sure what the speed limit is at crossroad and as you pass the armay camps but i think its 65 and 50 kilometres per hour. sure someone will correct me if i am wrong.

Just a question...what happens if you are not aware that you have a speeding fine but are travelling out of Ercan airport to travel back to the UK for a holiday and get stopped and told at the airport. Will you still be allowed to travel out of the country and pay it on your return or will you not be allowed to board the flight until the fine has been paid. I am referring to people who are residents here not holiday makers in rental cars.

Many thanks in advance.

It is usually on entry they get you, not exit. If you have paid for your hire car by credit card it is possible that the hire company could put the fine on your card when (if) they get notified.

From time to time the police call on the car hire companies with the speeding tickets to find out the names and passport numbers of the drivers.

Hi Markys do not really know the answer to your question but if you think you might have a fine you can go into the Girne Police Station and ask if they have anything on their computer before you go away.

markys, If on attempting to leave Ercan and the police find that you have an outstanding ticket, You will be refused boarding UNTIL the fine has been paıd at Girne or Lefkosia Police Station, and Yes I do know people that this has happened to and Yes they missed their flight.

if registered b4 you leave either at erchan or border to larnica they will not let you leave before you pay it even if you miss your flight

if not regietered you will be issued with ticket on next visit and given 24/48 hrs to pay it

if go and dont return hire csr compsny or police will chase it up in your country of residence
