You find that Mycil foot powder help's under the breast's or groin because it has an anti-fungal ingredient This has always been used on the elderly people down our way for year.Give it a try for a number of week's and please let us know if it improves.

Good luck.

If you go to the chemist and get an antifungal cream such as Clomitrazole it should clear up in a day. Powder preparations tend to clog up in this hot weather so in my opinion should be avoided.

Well yes the chemist have recommended Ultralan Pomat (topikal kortikoid) which I presume means cortisone which does clear it up within hours but I was looking for something to PREVENT the sweat rash coming back.

The anti fundal talc seems a good idea to me but you say it clogs up, would that not be just ordinary talc.

Babrew,

Get yourself a Turkish Bath to unclog those sweat glands and ducts and see if that doesn't help to prevent further problems.

OOOOOOOOOOOOPTHS!

Brain freeze - sorry Babrew :0)

I meant - LANACANE cream and/or Lanacane powder - it is for prickly heat, rash, itching - the powder is anti-bacterial and soothing, as is the cream, so both help to kill germs so helps prevent infection.

Babrew, Don't want to ask on a public forum where the rash is so if you want to e-mail me on trnchealthcare@gmail.com I may be able to give you other tips on how to prevent it reoccurring

Groucho is Spot On, when I worked in the tropics I was advised by my doc to take several Turkish Baths before I travelled The idea is to stimulate/clear sweat glands to prevent sweat rash/prickly heat ,It Worked. the best thing you can do is take a Turkish bath although you have sweat rash it "Will" fix your problem...Oh! and wear "Cotton" Underwear. and avoid "Steroidal" creams

Thats interesting, a Turkish Bath. Do you mean just go into a hamam lay on the hot slab and scrub yourself down or call in a masseur who scrubs you down, tad expensive.

Smothering yourself with pore-clogging ointments and sun-tan lotions is often a cause of prickly heat and other rashes.

There are many options for getting your pores cleaned out, but a Turkish bath is reckoned to be one of the best. Ask around for deals etc. Worth the money if it stops the problem.

MsGarnet's suggestion of Lanacane Powder is excellent. I use this now and have had no problems at all - suffered like hell last year and earlier this summer until I started using Lanacane.

Lanacane Powder does not work like talc, it dries the area and helps to get sooth irritated skin.

Good luck, not much fun being blotchy and sore in this heat.

One way to avoid skin problems arising from heat and perspiration is to wear loose clothing and natural fibres. This enables the skin to breath, the air to circulate and perspiration to be absorbed. Dont wear close fitting nylon or lycra - can cause all sorts of problems particularly in intimate areas. Lose fitting draped clothes for women also disguise imperfect figures and avoid the need for constricting foundation garments.

Buy a lot of cheap cotton pants (Wed. Market) and tops (Charity shops) so you can change whenever clothes become sweat soaked, even if you do not have the chance to shower. Anything with elastic waist get in different waist heights - so it isnt rubbing in the same place all the time - same goes for shoulder straps and sandals.

By the way I was told some time ago to avoid using ordinary talc as it ws suspected of causing malignancies.

I should be very grateful if anyone can tell me if this is still the case, and if some types are now safe and

In the REGT we used to go for a swim in the sea, then as Birdman says abstain from wearing underwear for a few hours and if rash is sore dry out using a powder and let fresh air get at it. If not bad use creams but again let fresh air repair!!
