It went down the pan a long time ago - that is why I am here. Even if TRNC doesn't work out I would never go back - I would move on. I was raised to know my responsibilities - UK people nowadays only care about their rights.

Looking out the window looking across the stunning countryside I think Britain still has much too offer. There are no significant race issues or social issues today as there may have been at the time of the Toxteth and St Pauls riots of old. What we are witnessing is lawlessness without any excuse or justification led in the main by young teenagers whose parents seemed to absolved themselves of any responsibility for their upbringing. Social networking sites such as facebook have made things far easier to organize and sustain. It's time for the police to stop 'policing by consent' (ie let people nick what they like) and start being a bit more forceful. They aren't going to alienate the communities the communities are being burnt out of their houses and businesses by kids playing a real live video game. Water Cannons, snatch squads crack a few heads, and start locking them up and they'll soon run off back to mummy.

Great Britian will always be Great Britian. If i could change somethings it would be, 1) Get rid of our Euro interests and stay being Great Britian. 2) Send any non British national home if they break the law. 3) Tighten immigration rules.

The weather, asylum and benefit laws that seem to favour people that have just arrived in the country as opposed to those that have often contributed all their lives and the benefits culture which allows people to contribute little to society and who sit around all day watching Jeremy Kyle on massive plasma's.

| Stop all immigration except for qualified trades people, from all countries and bugger the do gooders and the in europe who tries to tell us different. With all the contracts being given away by the government to Germany for trains etc it's crazy to keep letting unprofesional people flock here just to sit on the dole, charity begins at home. It's been said that if Bombadier closes in Derby there could be a loss of 15000 jobs with the workers plus supplier chain what is our government thinking ? We have had years of letting the dross of the world into the uk now we have 2nd and 3rd generation dossers ,stop all the family allowances that go to supposed children back in other countries. | I also think we have to re look at the things we are involved in. Whilst we are having to suffer austerity measures the goverment spends silly amounts of money sending planes and troops abroad to fight wars that are nothing to do with us. Money to starving Africans . Provied subsidies to tobacco farmers via the EU. Then spends more money fixing the smoking related illness via the NHS. They wonder why people are peed off! Benefits should only be paid to those who can prove they are at least 3rd generation British, to stop the scroungers. Social housing should also be allocated in the same way. |

msg 20 Could'nt agree more.... It will take a lot more than a couple of nights of rioting to send the Kingdom United "down the pan"... Living in the TRNC for th past 4 years has made me realise what a great country the UK really is, having said that the TRNC is an ideal place for expats in good health and over the age of 65. The only thing I would change about the UK is the weather

Message 19 I agree and do it now rather than later...I can see this behaviour spreading to other cities and towns very rapidly otherwise! These feral kids are everywhere these days...what we are seeing now is unfortunately just another step on from the gangs in certain areas in most urban places in UK drinking/doping themselves daft and then causing damage to gardens and parked cars as well as picking on some unsuspecting person walking by...of course if you raise your voice to tell them to stop, you risk being stabbed or clubbed and kicked to death!

Such behaviour is not restricted to the UK it is widespread throughout Europe and further afield. it wasn't that long ago I was reading about gangs attacking people across the border in the south.

It is when you open a newspaper and photos of the riots are spread over the first six pages, and all you see are faces of black young teenagers, then I start to think that maybe, just maybe I am a teeny bit racist, but is it really afterall very surprising??

The pictures I've seen on TV and the Internet show plenty of white youths both male and female involved. No doubt there are large numbers of coloureds as well but I suspect the mix of people involved reflects the ethnic mix of the areas where trouble has flared.Perhaps you should ask the editor of the paper about his choice of photos. Let's not turn what's happening into race riots. It's kids of all colour and gender seeing an opportunity to get hold of goods they couldn't otherwise afford.

Surely it's a sign that equality of opportunity has worked in the UK ....both genders and many ethnicities displaying the same criminal tendencies. A point to ponder ...I read of dozens of 'phone shops being ransacked and looted but not a single bookshop!

I will always remember a quote I heard when I was a kid, but cant trace who said it: Poor little Britain, from an empire where the sun never sets, to a small insignificant little country where the sun never shines! Sort of sums up the UK quite well I thought.

i am no wooly minded liberal , nor do i condone anti social behaviour of any kind ,but , if i were a young unemployed man with very little hope for the future , who then reads about the man who leads the country at the moment living a life of luxury in tuscany @ approx 35000 pounds per week , i am sure it would leave a lasting impression on how i view the world in wich i live . in life there are always more than one way of looking at every situation . you all have a nice day .

If I was living on Benefit, no job, no youth club in the area for the kids, bored, disillusioned ......would I bring my kids up differently? My answer: No I bloody wouldn't. They would still be taught right and wrong, they would still be taught manners and respect, still be taught that the things we've seen in UK over the last few days are not the way we should behave. I am sick to the back teeth of do-gooders justifying action like this. They deserve nothing from my country, apart from a Baton round.

RIP Broken Britain.. You went soft on discipline!.. You went soft on immigration! You went soft on crime.. Parents were told.. 'No you can't smack the kids'....Teachers were prevented from chastising kids in schools.. The police couldn't clip a troublemaker round the ear.. Kids had rights blah blah blah.. Well done Britain..You shall reap what you sow.. We have lost a whole generation!!

i don't care what you say England is still the best country to live in ! Yes it has it's problems , but so have every country in the world. Are you going to tell me that North Cyprus is heaven ? I don't like the Government's policy on immigration , i doubt if any honest English person does , but we have to get on with it . I was born and bred in Shepherds Bush and was brought up with 50% of my friends being from the West Indies or Africa. So i got used to it, and still have loads of friends from the " Bush " Lift those hoodies and see just how many are black ! It's not a racial thing , it's worse than that ! It's every anarchist scumbag jumping on the band wagon ! The kids are being led by " respectable " people living with their wife and two children in a London suburb. The young will obviously get the blame but the instigators are not young , and they should know better . Let's see the ages of the ones arrested when they appear in court. My money is that they are 30+......

I agree arrry, but I have to say some were as young as 10 , no thats scary. How do you not know where your 10 year old child is. Its become a Jeremy Kyle community sadly and its been alloed to be. So the fault is with the government. Whilst there I saw so many people with dark faces, baby in push chair shopping in TKmax, etc. they had money. So many bags on the pram handles and this must be repeated everywhere. However what I did see was the acceptance of it, I was in Cardiff and we have had jamaican people there for for so long working for FFYESS banana boats. We were so lucky we had many opportunities to board the boat and go to jamicia for so little money. What I'm saying we were used to seeing what you call dark faces. I must admit when I went back I didn't expect to see headscarves. We merge we accept its multicultural now

Some of you really need to check out the facts, here`s something that may help https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/uk.html We know the UK has it`s problems but there are problems all over the world. The UK is still an economic and military leader, our Justice system is the envy of the world,we have leaders in every field of educated disciplines you can name. Our cricket team is the best in the world. In fact only truly civilised countries play cricket. The way ordinary people have come together during the riots is typical of the UK. We are still the one country in the world that can be trusted to do the right thing when the chips are down. And the sun never sets on the Commonwealth.
