In my opinion you can't compare the war years to what is happening now, people had nothing then, times were desperate. What really could they get out of another poor mans house other than blankets, and food.



The mindless thugs today know what they want and go out to get it, designer clothes, IPhones etc. They now want it all handed to them on a plate. If they want to riot and fight give them a uniform and send them to Afghanistan and let the decent youth of the UK that are out there come home and be safe.

While there is no instance of looters being shot - it was an offence which could be punishable by hanging or shooting.



I dont think this would have deterred people in genuine need in bombed out houses with no food or bedding, but it would certainly have deterred the wholesale looters out to line their own pockets, just as it would deter the scum that are looting now!

On the contrary it has EVERYTHING to do with this situation if the prevailing mindset is that riots in London only happen where there are concentrations of 'black' or 'asian' families. It is clear that in 'the good old days' of WWII people, often in positions of trust, looted, not from shops but from the homes of victims of enemy bombing. And the looters were white!

The point being that despicable behaviour is a) nothing new and b) not the sole preserve of ethnicities other than white.
