Swimming Pools wasted backwash water

Can one use the backwash water from a pool for irrigation or does the chlorine/chemicals make it useless for plants? I am conscious that we must all preserve the water supplies however I do not know whether the water can be used immediately or whther the effect of the chemicals would wear off after storage for a time.

Leave it for approx 4 days and it will be ok.

My backwash goes into a 2 ton water tank that has a pump fitted to, after a couple of days use to water garden, happy days

Recycle backwash water to re-use to keep the pool topped up.

After testing the water with no free chlorine recorded, the water can be backwashed direct to the garden. I have done this for 5 years with no ill effect on plants and trees.

However a lot of people backwash into a tank before using it for irrigation.
