Hi

We have an open fireplace in our house but no grate or 'firebasket'. Does anyone know of a place that sells these or alternatively can anyone recommend a blacksmith in Lapta area who could make one for us?. Looking forward to cosy nights in over Christmas sipping wine in front of a roaring log fire! Thank you all in advance.

Hi M & B they sell them in Tin Pot alley, and there are metalworkers there who will make you one if you have the measurements.

Hi Maggie&Bernie, any wrought iron makers will make one for you, just give them the sizes, they will make one for you.

M&B Go past the law courts, past the bus/dolmus station (On right). Turn right and you have the big TV screen in front of you. Turn left to all the shops and Tin Pot is on the left behind these shops.

Hi M&B, if you want someone recommended and local, speak to Yilmaz at his works in Lapta. He is located behind Ozsan Yapi Market just past the vilage centre, you know where there are about 3 blocks of flats going up right on the side of the road. He's done loads of work for me and most of my neighbours (including their fire grates, no fire myself) over the last few years and speaks excellent english. Good luck

Hi Maggie and Bernie,

I was going to ask Santa for an I pod, but after reading some of these posts, I altered it for an F Pod.

Do you think I will be OK?

Hi Maggie

I have a 'fire basket' going spare that you are more than welcome to have. It is oblong and measures 46cm x 32cm. It also has a little drawer that slides in underneath to catch the ashes. It could do with a bit of a rub down and paint as it has been in the garden since February!

If you are interested please call me on 0533 830 3976. I'm in Karsiyaka.

Dear Wyn

I don't believe there is an f in pod but you never know. I got an iPod for my birthday at the weekend and it's kept me busy ever since trying to master the complexities of the damn thing, doesn't seem that long since I was loading up singles on me old 'Dansette' (the last couple always used to slide, remember? ha ha)

F pod, iPod whatever, I hope Santa brings you lots of good cheer (and mabye the odd crate of efes (or effes))

Compliments of the soon to be here season to you

M&B (that used to be a brewery in the Midlands!)

Thank you for your good wishes. They are reciprocated.

I too had an I Pod for my birthday. Wonderful machine, but a nightmare to use for anyone over 7. Enjoy!

Dear Jo (JoandJelly)

Just checked the measurements of my fireplace (can't believe how organised I was to write them down!) Your Fire Basket would fit perfectly! Please could you put my name on it? I will be back over on Sat 6th December so could pick it up Sun 7th or any other day that suits you, many thanks in advance

Hi Joandjelly

Sorry to hear you're leaving on another thread, Wish I could have the dogs but I'm not out there permanently yet. Hope you find a nice loving home for them.

Just checking you'll still be there when I get out there on 6th Dec? If not I could maybe get someone else to pick up my fire grate before then?

Let me now

All the best

Maggie

Hi Maggie

I'm not going anywhere! I posted the message looking for loving homes for my friend's dogs.

I will definitely be here when you arrive. There is no rush so just give me a call when you are ready.

Regards.
