Continuing on the debate about taxes that Lapta Belediye charge. Someone said that Mr. Namsoy is doing a fantastic job and how the cleaning and providing of bins is wonderful.



Yes bins and cleaning are great - but they don't seem to think that Karşiyaka exists - our roads here a full of huge holes and the growth along the verges goes uncut.



Ah but we do receive the ' free ' newspaper which is not very beneficial to those who are not Turkish readers and is full of council propaganda

I found it odd that in this months free newspaper, the english version, the headlines were warning people about illegal use of water, ie. swimming pools, gardens, yet in the Turkish speaking one it didn't seem to appear, obviously all of the local residents conserve water at all times.

What really annoys me about those free papers is that they put one in every gate. This is such a waste when a lot of the properties are not occupied for much of the year. They then have to send out the clean up squad to clear up the rubbish. Having said that I enjoyed the english version this month.
