I have stopped the car more than once to help them across the road. Lovely little things! But I haven't seen one this year (yet).

My olive grove used to have plenty, some bright green, it used to be facinasting to watch them change colour to match their suroundings. Unfortunatly the down sound to the large cat population has almost wiped them out in the built up arreas.

"My olive grove used to have plenty, some bright green"

They do change colour... so those that were bright green might be of quite a different hue just now.

I though it was geckos that were the real slow coaches. (Arent they the largest ones?)

On one occasion I was driving down a , then, quiet road when a large expensive car coming the other way stopped and the young male driver (student??) appeared to be watching something on the road in front. It was a large lizard and the driver waited patiently while it slowly plodded across the road. So they are not all bad!

What was also fascinating what that, having crossed to road the lizard climbed a chain link fence hand over hand, just in the way a person would climb.

My husband was watering a plant a few years ago and when I went out to talk to him I noticed something move on the railings immediately behind the plant.

He was not only watering the plant but also the chameleon and because it had change colour to the same colour as the fence he hadn't even noticed it without his glasses on!

Msg7: I think I am correct in saying that there are in fact a couple of thousand different types of Gheko's throughout the world, they do move quite fast for their size and they have these wonderful little suction pads on their feet that allow them to climb walls, windows, trees in fact absolutely anything.

They also appear to come in many different colours and sizes.

Chameleons tend to be very very slow.

Just found these on Gecko's:

I think they are beautiful

Paddywack

I think bobat5 means, if you place a Chameleon on some Tartan it will change its colour scheme accordingly..

They're not slow when you pick them up to help them cross the road. They paddle like mad!
