A distinction that has been coming...

Not so long ago England were whitewashed in Australia... now, happy days

Absolutely I've been watching the cricket for about 15 years now and it hasn't often been an easy experience. It's great to have something to shout for and take pride in for a change.

Well done lads

Great times but like many sports now I do not enjoy it when comparisons are made with teams and individuals of many years past relying on records and statistics which cannot compare like with like. I used to sit at Lords in the 1950s and watch batsmen deliberately hit shots just short of the boundaries and run 5 rather than hit a 4. A six off the shoulder of a bat was nigh impossible. The boundaries are now so close to the wickets that scoring a ton or more is far easier so when old records are broken it is not necessarily a true reflection of the level of achievement. That said, any win, in any fashion whatsoever, against the Aussies in particular, is a matter for unbounded joy !

msg 3 the same can be said in reverse about bowlers though, the speed bowled today is far superior to the times you talk about so batting equally hard just like you say you really can't compare the two.

The up side of the speed of bowling today is that often the batsmen don't have to put so much on the ball. It's a different art involving less sheer power and more timing, running between the stumps is now an art-form too.

Andrew Strauss and the team are justifiably the best test team in the world.

Well done to all of them
