Thought it was as good a defensive display as I’ve ever seen Bearing in mind we were missing 4 of our front 5 and playing a quarter of the match with a player down, thought we did rather well Again the fitness was evident and the way we grounded out the result was first class First game South Africa, no problem although I wish we didn’t pick up so many injuries Thought Henson was having a strong game before he went off England had the bulk of possession and at almost full strength looked very pedestrian. Din't think there was much leadership on the pitch. There is going to be some soul searching in making the cut Looking at the teams before the game I expected lot more from England and expected them to win but desire and close team bonding made all the difference Last warm up games next weekend, fingers crossed for no major injuries for either team

Well done the Princeapality but not really a convincing win was it even for the most dyed in the wool Welshman. Sean Edwards defence coaching obviously paid off and granted the Welsh were a lot fitter. Wales need to sort out both the Scrumiging and the lineout and of course the penalty count. I hate to say this but with Wilkinson playing the score would have been the other way. Granted Wales had some key players missing but so did England. As regards preparation for the World Cup the games between Argentinia and Ireland will give some indication how near or far are the two countries are to being serious contenders. If you watched the following gamne between the Boks and Aussies then that is what they will be up against, I think they seriously have a chance against the Boks who continue to play to many old players and loose cannons. I have seen nothing yet that will give them any competitive edge against the Antipodeans. Good game though and certainly better than the puffball.

agree Wilko has to be number 10, the half back pairing didn't get going at all yesterday although Care looked dangerous at times When you are up against it at set play you will always concede too many penalties Too many errors by both sides but perhaps the desire to win was too much for both teams

Good result from Wales, played hard and defended well although gave away too many penalties. Some of the welsh scrummaging was appalling, seeing a front row disengage totally on at least two occasions was woeful. Having said that England were terrible in the backs. Care and Wilko has gotta be the best pairing, I don't think the backs will line up with those players on september the 10th. all in all will make for a good world cup, can't wait!!!!

Great for strengthening the mental state of a team like Wales before the World Cup (and should cause a few ripples of concern in the England camp). However, both teams will have to play a lot (lot) better to have a chance of progressing next month, especially when you see how New Zealand have dispatched their Southern Hemisphere rivals!! Come on Wales!!!

Yes Scarlets I watched the game and I said on a previous post that Wales played very well last week, justice has been delivered. England have found out the hard way that they cannot mix and match teams - after all you play to win!! As for World Cup I hope both teams make it for knock out stages and do well. Scotland are playing a low key approach and do not write us off as England will find out later on and 6 Nations in February!! But seriously well played Wales and you never looked like loosing both games and best of luck for World Cup, overturn an overaged player dependant South Africa and confidence will be enormous. I also watched the TRI Nations games and yes the ABs are in prime form, but South Africa and Australia do not need to be feared, France will knock the ABs out as yes the ABs fear the French in World Cup. Just hope all home nations do not suffer any injuries before the start and also in group stages. Southern Hemisphere your time is up!!

Taffy. Well played Wales yesterday. They wanted to win in front of their home crowd and deserved it on the day. Not a World Cup winning display by either team though.

The result is of no importance as it has zero bearing in relation to events in NZ next month. Yet again the whole world and his dog are bigging the All Blacks which is fine, but we all know what happens when they play France in a match that has some meaning to it. I believe the Springboks are doing it right with their 4th team losing all their Southern Hemisphere games and just waiting until it really matters. Whatever happens lets enjoy the event. Michael

Two answer the last couple of posters Scotland have absaloutly no hope whatsoever I am sorry but they are below Italy now in the world rankings. they play with lots of heart but unfortunatley the skill level is not present Chris Patterson a great fullback in his day but seriously let the man retire gracefully. The betting puts them 175 to 1 Scotland wont progress past the pool matches. The poster who predicts no problems with the Boks or the Aussies obviously havnt been watching the Tri Nations. The boks granted have a lot of work to do but the aussies are class. The ABS have in the past peaked to early but somehow I think this will be their year. Thats if the South Africans dont poisen them again. France always a dark horse but again always fall at the last fence somehow I dont think so.

Scotland will progress past the Group Stages and at 175-1 thats a nice wee bet but I know its a wasted one. Dont forget another thing, New Zealand is full of expatriate Scots and guess who they will support after the ABs, every timer Scotland Tour, its a fact that the stadiums are the fullest of all Northern Hemisphere countries. The Tri Nations is overblown and the mistakes and basics that are made, only thing in its favour is that its played at pace and looks threatening, but all the injuries, knocks, player burnout have been noticed and even the AB Coach Henry is worried. How many times are players offside in Tri Nations - loads, so Hippo stop watching with Southern Hemisphere Tinted Glasses and watch and learn !! Scotland WILL progress !!

I will have a small wager with you a pint at a venue of your choice (Kibris) that Scotland will not progress past the group matches. Another pint that the AB's will lift the WC OK?

Ang1706, even though I know next to nothing about rugby, I'd like a piece of that wager too. I think it may be you who has rose-coloured glasses on, mate. You can justifiably rubbish the Aussie cricketers at present, but do so with their rugby team at your peril...
