I was under the impression, from reading several posts on here, that "seed munchers" were Turkish men who wandered around Girne harbour, with their arms around each other, munching seeds of some description and discarding the skins

I think it is in reference to the Turkish men around the harbour mainly, that eat sunflower seeds and spit out the husks.
