lilaclady,

ironhorseturk is Yorgozlou on Cyprus 44.

Swimming I would say not in the pool and only in the sea if you are very brave. Just my opinion as I am sure lots of people swim all year round.

I stay at the Pia Bella over Christmas some people have used the outdoor pool on sunny days, not something that has appealed to me though. The loungers and towels are still available around the pool.

I stay at the Ship Inn over Christmas and the New Year period and last year quite a few people were using the outdoor pool.

That's just your opinion beeches! I think they are fit and brave and admire them!

There were British girls swimming in the sea on 1st January 2000 in the Karpaz as I

witnessed, and a German man for a short time. It was cold but they wanted to do it

and it was a warm day and water was a gorgeous colour. I swim in pool until early Nov.

and sea is slightly warmer.

I have swum in November but it has been more of an endurance test! Last week of Oct. for me.

What nobody has mentioned is that the sea can be rough in winter and there are currents round rocks and with no lifeguards and empty beaches you need to think about safety - certainly dont go alone. Also facilities are closed (changing rooms etc.) and the beaches arent cleaned, usually after Oct. and a lot of sea grass and, sadly. nasty rubbish gets washed up.

Weather cant be guaranteed in autumn /winter but Christmas is often sunny and wonderful for walks and exploring.

Not for sitting about after a swim though! If you want to swim and are tough best thing is to stay at a place with chalets near the pool, so you can have a hot shower and change immediately afterwards
