Anyone visiting Magusa will know that every road has been/is being dug up recently to lay new mains water pipes in readiness for the new under-sea water supply pipes from mainland Turkey.

Also every house now has a brand new water pipe coming up near the water meter, these pipes are capped.

Our house is no exception, but when they laid the new pipe I couldn't find out from the workmen when this new pipe would be connected up, and whether that would be done free of charge or not. The existing supply continues to work fine by the way.

Anyone know?

They are laying new pipes for water (replacing the old asbest ones) an also laying down sewage pipes. Sewage and water pipes have to be laid down on opposite sides of the road, hence each road is dug up twice. It should be completed by the autumn of 2012, so another year of dust everywhere.

I dont believe it is specifically for the proposed water pipeline, they have been replacing these old pipes all over the North part of the island, with EU money I understand ?

Greylag, I do not believe anyone dismissed the renewing of the ancient pipes around the city of Famagusta. Are you confusing this with PLUTO?
