Can anyone tell me if there are any clinics in TRNC that specialise in checking moles? I heard recently in the UK that there are now open clinics whereby you can go and see a specialist and have all of your skin checked over for suspect moles, obviously for a fee, and thought that was a brilliant idea rather than having to wait for a referral from a GP and even then it is only the GPs opinion. Given the amount of sunshine we get in Cyprus it would be nice to have an annual skin check up if there is such a thing.

Thanks Chris but I wondered if there was a clinic/hospital where you can go and have all moles, marks etc on your skin checked rather than just ones you suspect. Perhaps if enough people are interested there may be a specialist in TRNC who might host a clinic?

Judyr,

Most times a Dr can tell by just looking at the moles / marks. But if they worry you at all just get them removed now before they do cause trouble. I know of a couple of Dr's here that remove them if you want to get in touch phone me on 0533 884 5621 or e-mail me on trnchealthcare@gmail.com

It is wise to have them checked. I had a mole removed which was not a melanoma but a basal cell carcinoma.

Removal cost 200 TL and 140 TL for the histology results.

Dr. Bugra did the procedure which was painless, took less than 15 minutes and left no scar. His tel no is 0533 8673347

Good luck

Just to clarify, I don't have any particular mole that I am worried about. There is a new service in the Uk, private, and I think it costs around £250 or so, whereby you can book an appointment and they check every single area of your skin for any suspect moles etc. I thought it was such a good idea and wondered if there is anything routine like this that you could have in TRNC. I recently had the full womens check up arranged by Nurse aweful and thought that was brilliant and if there was a skin specialist to check over the outside of the body once a year hat would be great. Perhaps Dr Bugra does this in any case this?

Brilliant. If they could do something like this I am sure there will be many takers as there are with the health days you so kindly organised. You only get one life and everything you can do to spot signs early is a bonus. Thank you.

It might be worth looking at some Ozzie websites as they have nurse practitioners who specialise in skin cancers and have the appropriate equipment to assist diagnosis

Same subject but if anyone is going to the Uk and want a check up there is a relatively new clinic called The Mole Clinic. It is run by BUPA in conjunction with Supadrug. You can book an appointment via Supadrug, online to have your moles checked; Cost very reasonable, 1 mole £30, all moles £95.
