Hi all,

please could someone tell me a rough guide on shipping prices to trnc.

I don't have a lot to ship out just clothes, nursey furniture some other bit's and bob's, so think I will only need a 20ft container if anyone thinks different please tell me.

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Don't know about a few thing's, we sent over furniture for a three bedroom house, everything you could think of for inside and outside, it cost £2200, that was with Olaytrans and they are based in Nicosia, I would give them a ring they have someone English working for them.

Hi David,

We had a 20ft container, someone from the company you choose will come and measure approx all items being sent, if not enough for container you can send a part load or 'Groupage" is the term used. ours was 2800 pounds for 20 ft container all packed by carriers.Olaytrans and Euromed seem to be the popular ones. good luck.

Hi,

We are in the Process of sending our stuff to TRNC with Dolphin by Road Freight, Jo Valentine was kind enough to offer me space in a 20ft container with someone else, but unfortunately I didn't think our stuff woudl arrive in time. If you only have a small amount consider using Diolphin or ask Jo if she can arrange road freight.

Cheers

Dave,

Use Olaytrans, they were 100% in everything that they did from collection in Manchester(sept) to Delivery in Alagadi(Oct).

Just don't expect the container to arrive on the date that you expect. Ours should have arrived on the Monday, but we got it on a Wednesday, so no big deal.

£2200 for a full container, got to pack it yourself but this included unpacking of a 20ft container and putting the stuff where you wanted it, and we had loads of stuff. This price also included clearance with customs in Nicosia.

If you need any more info, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Pipie

Not sure if this is any help but I used BA excess baggage allowance. Suggest using this for clothes and get your nursery stuff at Ikea. Would likely turn out heaps cheaper. I did leave near Heathrow so it was the obvious option may not be for you but the info might help.

Allowance - free of charge

1x upto 23k suitcase

1x upto 23k hand baggage (54x45x22cm)

plus small handbag, plus laptop bag

plus bicycle in transport bag/case

Excess - Each extra 23k = £35 paid at the airport on the day or £28 paid online prior to the day.. Upto 10 additional suitcases and or boxes. Boxes to measure total of 62 inches when height, width and length measurements added together.

As I moved from Twickenham and lived near Heathrow I used British Airways. The BA excess baggage allowance is very generous.

British Airways

Allowance - free of charge

1x upto 23k suitcase (checked) in

1x upto 23k hand baggage (54x45x22cm)

plus small handbag, plus laptop bag

plus bicycle in transport bag/case or other sports kit (checked in)

Excess - Each extra 23k = £35 at the airport on the day or £28 paid online prior to the day. Upto 10 additional suitcases and or boxes. Boxes to measure total of 62 inches when height, width and length measurements added together

Check in 2.5 hours prior is ample

Might be worth bringing the clothes over in this way and then getting the nursery items at Ikea or locally.

We are relocating to Catalkoy in a couple of months - just had a quote back from Dolphin for 20ft container with them packing and loading for almost £6000 - looking on this site it would appear most people paid approx under £3000 is the price we have been quoted a rip off.

Ken,

I have no idea if this is a rip off or not, but if you contact Jo Valantine in the address below, I'm sure you will find out. They ship to TRNC from UK frequently.

Good Luck & Welcome to the forum.

Doplphin are a rip off! I know of several people that have used them for shipping to N Cyprus and they have had a bad service!

Also they had a ship go down close to Famagusta harbour last year where many people lost their entire life belongings!!!!

Try Jo Valentine good prices and good feedback

We shipped with Dolphin in 2005 and two small loads in 2006 and 2007 We found the service very good indeed. The packing was first class and delivered on time.

I think you will find the ship Dolphin 1 that went down belonged to Latifoglu Ltd the clearing agents in Famugusta.

Dolphin are a firm of bandits...they rip you off, their packing service is truly appalling and they couldn't give a stuff when you make a complaint.. DO NOT USE THEIR OVERLAND SERVICE..I did and they charged me an extra 450 quid cos they said the Bulgarians demanded it..but no receipts were issued and no proof..back pocket job....my furniture was damaged, lots went missing and they didnt give a flying fig..YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Have just sent a 20ft container with Jo Valentine. Her team arrived and packed everything up then put it on the 20ft container. So far the service has been superb. I think the agent in Famagusta is Armen shipping. Ship due to arrive on 22 October. Will report back when unloaded.

Contact http://www.bargateinternational.com

free survey guarantees an accurate costing, you cannot go by other peoples costs as every consignment is different, from location, access, size of consignment and packing requirement. Bargate also offer insurance on both professionally packed goods and self packed. At present vehicles are being shipped by container as RoRo services are very unreliable at present.
