Could anyone tell me whether the Bowls at Lapta is opened yet as I am due out in a couple of week time and would like to have a game. Last time I was out the work had been started and it is due to open in the summer

We passed there the other night and all there was to be seen was a concrete slab, no sign of any work going on so I guess it will be a while yet before it opens.

I doubt it is ever going to open, if it was the proprietors would keep everyone informed, probably another failed business due to red tape etc etc.

We've been told by the owners that "negotiations are ongoing" but no explanation as to what it is that is being negotiated!! People on the Olive Press "data base" should have received an email from Martin with an explanation as to why work has stopped! However we have spoken to people on the data base who have received no such email. Not sure why the web site hasn't been updated. The facebook page has also been removed! Lots of rumours flying around - different reasons why work has stopped - not sure what to believe. All I can tell you is that there has been no work on the site for the last 6 weeks. Bit annoying really given the amount of work we did to get it off the ground but maybe a saving grace that we didn't invest in it. Our dream may be a long time yet in being realised. All I can say is watch this space.

Msg. 8 the whole idea was so that people didn't have to go down South for a game. The company that were called in as consultants are the same people responsible for most if not all of the sites down South and for many, many rinks in the UK, so these new people called in the best to advise them, that's for sure.

Phil The link you've posted is a portal for bowling clubs in the south. Not sure of its relevance unless you want to drive for 3 hrs for a game of bowls. We used to play at the Phaeton in Paphos- they now play out of the Avanti, until we moved to Lapta and discovered there were no bowls facilities. Hence the reason we tried to get one built here. See my post under the name "nuttynora". We may yet see a green built here.

Phil - maybe you just didn't realise the distance between Lapta and Paphos!! We have travelled to Irmi - just outside Limassol - for a game - but it's a long day. But at the end of the day a long day is better than no game.

Msg 13 Woodspeckie - Yes martin and his family have moved here - been here since 4th June. All he has told us is that "negotiations are ongoing with regards to the build" Never seen him at the site and we live within view of it.

Msg 14 Without the bowls club being built - then no Guido's!!
