Prime Minister İrsen Küçük has warned the Greek Cypriot administration that it cannot use the island’s natural resources, which Cyprus Turks have joint rights over, unilaterally. Calling on the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozaku Markulli, Mr. Küçük said “we won’t let you use these resources unilaterally.”

Speaking before entering the Council of Ministers meeting yesterday, Prime Minister İrsen Küçük evaluated the Greek Cypriot administration’s initiatives towards oil and gas exploration off the coast of Cyprus.

Accusing the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozaku Markulli for raising tensions on the issue with her statements, the Premier reminded that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu had made definite statements on the issue.

“It is not possible to understand Mrs. Markulli’s statements despite the clear statements made by Turkish officials. I want to warn her once again that we won’t let them use the island’s common resources unilaterally” Küçük said.
