Wembley suffers 40-foot crack

Wembley Stadium officials have denied reports that storms ripped a 40-foot crack in the home of English football.

According to workers at the state-of-the-art facility, which opened in 2007, heavy winds and torrential rain battered the £827 million development and left a 1.5-inch split in the walls on Monday.

"The ground shook. There were people in the lifts and they were terrified," said an employee.

"Then the major crack appeared from the floor of level one and snaked up to level four. It happened in an instant and wasn't something that had been growing over weeks or months."

But a spokesman for Wembley has moved to deny any damage was done.

"There was some minor movement in the building on Monday morning. Our engineers have reviewed the situation and reports indicate that this has been caused by natural settling," read a statement.

"As with all large structures, the stadium has been designed with movement tolerance factored in. Reports suggesting that there is a crack in the

i remember reading about a new hotel in the uk, where the roof blew off it in a storm on its opening week.

will say have stayed there since and it is a lovely hotel, never stayed in bad weather though.

I stayed at a rough hotel once. The manager said it was a 4 Star hotel. I asked him how he thought it was a four star hotel. He said if you look through the hole in the roof you can see four stars!
