have always seen large flocks of sheep and goats being herded - always seen sheep/mutton on sale in supermarkets and butchers but never goats meat! - question:- are goats reared for their meat or is it their milk? if it is their meat then where can one buy it?

It has been about 39 years since I tried goats meat but from memory I don't think there is that much difference between them. I suggest you drive through one of the villages and ask the local butcher.

Goat meat is on sale at Lemar Guzelyurt on a regular basis and I thought it was also on sale at Lemars other branches. It's most certainly on sale at the smaller butchers in villages as suggested. Ask for Keçi eti.... goat meat, good luck.

Most Butchers will sell you goat meat with a little notice. Kid is very good roasted, but goat meat is always better slowly cooked, and makes a good curry. Less fatty than lamb/mutton, and a more intense flavour.
